The National Obesity Forum estimates that nearly 25 per cent of UK children are either overweight or obese by the time they join reception class in primary school. So how should parents with children overweight children broach the subject? And how do you have that conversation without upsetting them or damaging their self-esteem? Jenni Murray talks to聽Dr Billy White from the 聽and聽Candida Hunt from the charity聽聽(HENRY). Her book Healthy Families: Right from the Start with Henry is published by HENRY.

Glasgow鈥檚 Commonwealth Games open tonight. 聽Running alongside the sports is , a programme of over 800 cultural events 聽taking place across hundreds of locations the length and breadth of Scotland.聽 鈥樷�� is a new theatre production from A Moment鈥檚 Peace Theatre Company & the Women鈥檚 Creative Company.聽 The project involved women from Glasgow who had never worked in the arts before.聽 They researched the female athletes from around the world who had participated in the Games through the decades and the theatre piece draws together archive interviews of the athletes themselves with the local women performing their stories.聽 鈥淓ndurance鈥� is being performed at The Arches in Glasgow from tomorrow, Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th July. Every performance is signed - tickets are available from the Arches Box Office.

An Arabic Radio Fiction drama called 鈥� Worth 100 Men鈥�, which tells the story of the challenges faced by a woman journalist at a radio station, is being broadcast in nine Arab countries during Ramadan, a popular time for screening soap operas and dramas in the region. The project was launched by the , which was set up for the empowerment of women and girls across the world. Jenni speaks to Maysoun Odeh Gangat, the Director of Radio NISAA, the woman鈥檚 radio station based in Ramallah which has been broadcasting the drama.聽
