Benny Andersson, legendary composer, songwriter and co-founder of ABBA performs live in the Radio 2 Piano Room. Benny's brand new album simply called 'Piano' features Benny playing music from across his career solo on a piano, unaccompanied as you've never heard him before. It was recorded on the island of Skeppsholmen, in the heart of his hometown Stockholm and contains classic ABBA tracks and songs from the musical Chess. At the age of six Benny got his first accordion and started playing together with his father Gosta and his grandfather Efraim. In the Sixties he was a member of Sweden's most popular rock band The Hep Stars and in the Seventies he was a member of the world's most popular pop band, ABBA. Alongside lyricist partner Bjorn Ulvaeus he created all the hits for ABBA which led to them selling 370 million records around the world. That in turn became the global musical sensation 'Mamma Mia!' which led to the movie which broke records and starred Oscar winning actors Colin Firth and Meryl Streep.
Gloria Hunniford is Ken's special Tracks of My Years guest celebrating Radio 2's 50th birthday. Gloria looks back on her time as a presenter at the nation's favourite radio station and picks songs from the 1980s from Neil Diamond and Cliff Richard. There's also another edition of the PopMaster music quiz and the daily Love Song. If you want to contact the show, just email ken.bruce@bbc.co.uk.
