Celebrating the Ulster-Scots or 'Scotch-Irish' connections with the United States of America.

There’s an American flavour to this week’s Kintra as Helen and the team explore some of the Ulster-Scots or 'Scotch-Irish' connections to our kith and kin in the USA.

With a nod to all things American this week, Helen Mark and the team explore some of the many connections between the Ulster-Scots and the United States: Jonnie Crawford joins a tour group from Atlanta, Georgia as they visit the Giant’s Causeway to learn more about their kith and kin in Co Antrim. Willie Hill hears about the Ulster-Scots Agency’s new exhibition celebrating the life of ‘Old Hickory’ – President Andrew Jackson. Rab Lennox takes a look back at the UK Pipe Band Championships in Lurgan Park and meets a few musicians from other countries including the USA, and Helen Mark pays a visit to Hezlett Primary School at Castlerock to hear how their 'Land of Promise' project went. The team always love to hear from listeners with yarns to tell and events to share with the Ulster-Scots community – contact them by email, Kintra@bbc.co.uk
