The resurgence of pipe bands in Ulster

David Hanna describes how the music of highland pipes was developed by army bands and how there was a great resurgence of pipe playing in the countryside in the 1940s.

Sam Hodgen describes how most pipe bands are very family orientated, with skills being passed down from generation to generation.

Sam tells us how Moneygore Pipeband first started in 1946 - and we meet one founding member - 93 year old Joe Cantley who plays the pipes everyday, which he believes to keep him young and healthy.

Andrea Boyd tells us that bagpipes are a very temperamental instrument.
