When Wales nearly ran out of chips

Potatoes are more than just a part of our culinary heritage they鈥檙e at the root, of our very way of life.

Back In the 60s there were between 13-14,000 chippies in Britain, with a turnover of more than a million pounds per week.

So when in 1962 the supply of potatoes to Cymru Wales (the chip eating capital of the UK) was under threat, intrepid reporter Alan Wicker was dispatched to cover the story.
