VIDEO: Latvia, "A nation of singers"
Latvians call themselves a nation of singers, and celebrate with a Song and Dance Festival in Riga once every five years, the next one being 2018. The festival, which is hugely important to Latvian identity, involves hundreds of choirs and folk dance groups, who play and perform to a huge audience. Latvian folksongs are known as Dainas, and it's thought there are at least one million in existence. To explain more is young choral conductor and TV personality Janis Ozols, speaking from where the open-air event takes place.
