From corporate executive to farming entrepreneur

It is a well-known fact that agriculture is the lifeblood of rural communities in Africa.

In the east African region, farming is how the majority of people earn their livelihood. However, there are few commercial farmers producing on a large scale and exporting food to foreign markets.

The situation in Ethiopia is complicated by the fact that the government owns most of the land and the economy is heavily regulated by the state.

But there is one investor who has managed to buy land, produce commercially and create nearly 300,000 jobs across the value chain. Daniel Gad gave up a promising career as an IT executive in the US to return home to Ethiopia and build a new agricultural firm known as Omega Farms.

The 成人论坛鈥檚 Lerato Mbele sat down with him and asked him to share his thoughts on the so-called "green revolution in Africa."
