The man who brought MTV to Africa
When MTV first came to Africa in 1995, few people were convinced that it would succeed, mainly because television penetration was not as high as it was in Western markets. In addition, the broadcasting industry was not well supported through things such as advertising, licensing and sponsorships.
Twenty years later, a lot of things have changed. Today's media consumers are millennials - people under the age of 25 - who are aspirational and want to watch themselves on TV.
The 成人论坛鈥檚 Lerato Mbele has been chatting with the man who brought MTV to Africa - the Nigerian-born, US-educated music executive and managing director of Viacom Networks, Alex Okosi.
