What is the UN's He-For-She campaign?
According to some estimates, women in Africa provide nearly three-quarters of agricultural labour and 90% of the food on African tables. But while women account for much of Africa's economic activity, it's principally in the informal sector and they occupy low-wage jobs.
This is mainly down to a lack of access to resources, specifically education and health and that's a problem the United Nations Women's Directorate has been striving to address. They're looking for a billion men to sign up for their He-For-She campaign, a movement whereby men stand up for women's rights too.
The 成人论坛's Tamasin Ford sat down with its executive director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, and began by asking how the campaign is working in Africa.
