Charged with GHB for assaulting a burglar.
Ben was a dedicated doctor with a colourful love life and a fiery temper.
Soon after joining the practice, Ben fell into a relationship with Faith, but couldn't commit. After she was raped by Liam Maguire, he rushed to defend her and narrowly escaped being charged for assault. On a night out with Faith, Ben disturbed an intruder and beat him up. To Ben's horror, the burglar pressed charges for grievous bodily harm. Ben escaped conviction, but was forced to face his violent tendencies.
Ben fared little better with Kali and Jude who both rejected his marriage proposals. In Jude's case, Ben had tried to support her when she discovered that her baby had Down's Syndrome. But Jude knew she didn't love him and turned him down.
But Ben鈥檚 life changed when his son came into his life 鈥� a son he had no idea he had. Nathan hid his identity at first, wanting to get to know this man who was his birth father. It was a difficult and tempestuous relationship, but one which grew over the months. Ultimately father and son went travelling together.
