What are Fibroids?

Fibroids are thought to affect black women more than any other racial group.

Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the womb, and they may affect up to 80% of black women. This common condition is often not well understood. There are different treatments available including surgery, but women sometimes avoid this due to stigma. Azeezat Olaoluwa discusses the symptoms, treatments and awareness campaigns with presenter, Priscilla Ngethe.
