Belfast born Colin Murray began his career as a news reporter, cutting his teeth at the Ulster News Letter. His print journalism background has stayed with him ever since and, while developing his radio and television career, he has picked up awards for his news presenting and column writing.

After setting up and co-publishing his own cutting-edge music magazine Blank - the highest circulating magazine of its type at the time in Ulster - Murray unexpectedly found himself co-hosting for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1's Session In Northern Ireland, after attending a five minute audition believing it was for ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Ulster . It appeared he could talk as well as write!

Since then he has moved through the ranks at ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio 1, deputising for various major shows and, landed a six month stint as host of the flagship evening music programme The Session, from 8pm through to 10pm, Tuesdays to Thursdays. More importantly, his partnership with Edith Bowman flourished and both presented Saturday and Sunday Morning shows on the station, which led to their move to their weekday slot, Mon-Fri 1-4pm!

Despite being very serious about his thirst for music and his love of journalism, Colin's sense of humour has come to the fore of late, not just on radio but also on television.

His successful three series of Channel 4's 4Musichave made him the face of quality music for Ch4, thanks to his witty and abrasive presenting style. This led to a major role in Ch4's Born Sloppy , with Murray 's challenges each week ranging from jumping out of 30ft high windows to boxing a 19 stone man dressed as Santa, and presenting 4Music's music series Ear Candy.

Colin's television career also involved presenting EastEnders Revealed³ÉÈËÂÛ̳3's insight into the nation's favourite soap, appearing as a regular guest on Liquid Newsand guest presenting ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ TV's Top of the Pops. More recently, he appeared as a guest on ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ TV's Never Mind The Buzzcocks. He has co-hosted both the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳3 and Radio 1 Glastonburycoverage, co-presented the Kerrang Awardsand co-presented ITV2's coverage of The Brit Awards. As a narrator, his distinctive tones have featured on the ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ TV series Can't Take It With Youand E4's Boys Will Be Girls. He has also taken part in Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes- appearing as 'Mark Knopfler'!

He is an avid sports fan, and has presented a variety of sports programming, including Channel 5's American Football coverage, NFL Live, and the channel's European Poker Tourseries (both Sunset & Vine). He currently presents Channel 5's coverage of the UEFA Cup Footballmatches and hosts the sports-based Radio 5 Live show Fighting Talk.

Awards wise, apart from being crowned IPR Northern Ireland Entertainment Journalist of the Year 2002 - for his long-standing music column in the Irish Sunday People - he also scooped a coveted Gold Sony Radio Broadcast Award. The Feature Award was for a documentary he made with All Out Productions entitled The Trouble With Drugs, described by the judges as 'An absorbing and informative piece of journalism.' Remaining true to his journalistic roots, Colin has also penned a monthly 'radio diary' for The Guardian newpaper.

So while Colin's silly streak is still there for everyone to see, it seems his attention to quality has very much stayed with him!
