    Breaking

    Middx 195 v Notts 415

Just when it looked like Middlesex could scrap a batting point, they lose two wickets in four balls.

This is back to the bad days of the past few years for Middlesex, losing 8-101, and they’ve conceded a huge lead.

Stuart Broad has mopped up the tail to finish with 3-39 and James Pattinson 4-49.

Notts have got an over to see out tonight after deciding not to enforce the follow-on.

  4. Postpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

Just a few overs to go in the Division Two games at Durham and Middlesex now.

Durham are 37-1 in their second innings and trail Glamorgan by 17.

Middlesex are struggling on 189-8, replying to Nottinghamshire's 415.

  5. Close of play at Headingleypublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Yorkshire 53-2 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Yorkshire see out the final couple of overs and that's stumps.

But what a day for Lancashire.

Keaton Jennings scored a career-best 238 to take Lancashire to their highest-ever score in a Roses match.

Tom Bailey and George Balderson then took a wicket apiece in the evening session to top things off.

    Yorkshire 53-2 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Two overs to go at Headingley.

Can Lancashire get another before stumps?

  7. Close of play at Bristolpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Glos 119-4 v Som 591-7d

Somerset have stepped on their local rivals for two days.

Tom Abell made 142 - just short of his career-best - and Lewis Gregory 89 - as Somerset took 319-4 at the start of the day to a match-controlling total.

Then Jack Leach removed three left-handers in a mini-collapse of 3-28 to leave Gloucestershire with a gap the size of the Avon Gorge to try and close.

  8. Close of play at Beckenhampublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Kent 45-1 v Surrey 671-9 dec

Kent get to stumps without any further damage.

But it was a day for the record-books as Surrey posted the highest total in first-class cricket without a player making a hundred.

Seven batters reached half-centuries and three were out in the 90s.

    Kent close 626 runs behind.

    Malan c Parkinson b Balderson 23 (Yorkshire 48-2 v Lancashire 566-9 dec)

    That could be huge.

Dawid Malan clips seamer George Balderson away but a diving Matt Parkinson clings on to the catch at mid-wicket.

No Joe Root as Tom Loten comes in as nightwatchman.

  10. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Warks 88-2 v Northants 597-6d

    A wonderful day for Northants.

They kicked on from their overnight 372-2 to a massive score with Luke Procter rolling his great form into an unbeaten 100.

They’ve nipped a couple out but Dom Sibley, on 37, has steered Warwickshire to the close.

A long, long way to go for the Bears.

Bonus points all round for bowling the overs on time - if I was in charge.

It's watchful stuff from Yorkshire pair George Hill and Dawid Malan.

Nine overs to go at Headingley. You really feel that Yorkshire can't afford to lose another wicket tonight.

  14. Root the cause of Durham's problemspublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Durham 311 v Glamorgan 365-9

    Martin Emmerson
    ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳ Radio Newcastle

Billy Root has just departed for 88 after edging Ben Raine to Scott Borthwick at second slip. His tenacious knock included 148 deliveries and he did a lot of damage to Durham's hopes in this game.

When he was joined in the middle by Michael Neser, Glamorgan were 148 behind at 163-7. Their partnership was worth 113, a record eighth stand for Glamorgan v Durham. Neser made 62.

Root then added 83 for the ninth wicket with Timm Van Der Gugten, who is playing with a runner after suffering a hamstring injury. He has 38 and Glamorgan lead by 50 at 361-9.

I said yesterday, where Durham were out for 311, this was at least a 350-run wicket and so it shows.

    Hammond c Overton b Leach 5 (Glos 88-4 v Som 591-7d)

Oh Jack Leach has another one!

Miles Hammond plays back and edges an easy chance to slip.

Leach has now got rid of all three left-handers.

Not though any real turn but just manipulating the batsmen around, who haven’t been good enough to keep him out.

Massive bother for Gloucestershire. They’ve now lost 3-28 on a fabulous wicket to bat on.

    Crawley c Foakes b Worrall 17 (Kent 22-1 v Surrey 671-9 dec)

    Not so okay for Kent.

Zak Crawley pokes at one outside off stump from Dan Worrall and snicks behind to the keeper.

Crawley's difficult start to the season continues.

    Kent 21-0 v Surrey 671-9 dec

All okay for Kent so far.

England opener Zak Crawley has hit a couple sweet drives off Sam Curran in his 16.

12 overs to go tonight. Kent will want Crawley and Ben Compton there in the morning.

A flatter, quicker ball has Marcus Harris poking forward and edging to short leg!

    Real bother for the Glosters.

  19. Division Two updatepublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 13 May 2022

    Yorkshire 17-1 v Lancashire 566-9 dec

Dawid Malan has come in at three to join George Hill.

Malan has been in superb form this season, scoring almost 500 runs at an average north of 80.

They'll need 80 and plenty more from the left-hander this time around.
