It's been another dramatic afternoon in the Championship and it looks like it may well be the end of Hull's stay in the second tier after defeat by a defiant Luton.

Preston, Millwall and Bristol City have all had slim play-off hopes dashed, while Brentford have given the initiative in the automatic promotion race back to West Brom.

Tomorrow Leeds play for the first time since winning promotion and being crowned champions and perhaps a guard of honour from Derby awaits them? That'll be worth watching - see you then.

Not yet knowing the outcome of their appeal against their 12-point deduction, Wigan fans don't yet know what kind of final-day drama they might endure.

If the penalty is enforced, the Latics will have to win on the final day, against a Fulham side who are still in the hunt for an automatic promotion place, and hope for help from elsewhere.

If it's overturned, Paul Cook's men are 10 points clear of any danger.

Birmingham still haven't won since football restarted - not scoring away from home this summer - and they cannot be certain of their safety yet with Wigan's appeal against a 12-point deduction still to be decided.

It means that, for a third time in four seasons, and for the fourth time since 2014, the Blues will go in to the final round of Championship games still in a relegation battle, still unsure of their survival.

There are a couple of games to be played tomorrow, but what a final round of matches we're going to have, with so much still to be decided at both ends of the table.

Here's what that win for Luton has done to the battle at the bottom - the Hatters are level on points with Charlton ahead of the final round of fixtures.

If Wigan's appeal against their 12-point deduction is unsuccessful, they'd be down to 46 points.

That means Hull aren't quite down yet, but if Wigan don't get a points penalty, the Tigers would need a near-impossible final-day goal-difference swing to stay up. The Tigers look doomed.

Barnsley are in action tomorrow and if they don't beat Nottingham Forest, they will be relegated.

Brentford missed the chance to put promotion to the Premier League in their own hands going into Wednesday's final round of fixtures by falling to defeat at Stoke City. That loss also meant that Leeds United are crowned champions.

Fulham are still in the mix for automatic promotion, too, after their win today.

Millwall's play-offs hopes ended as they suffered a 4-3 defeat at QPR, while Cardiff City remain in pole position to clinch the final Championship play-off spot following a 3-1 win at Middlesbrough.

Swansea are seventh - if they win their final game and Cardiff lose, it'll be the Swans in the top six.

• Hull are on the verge of relegation to League One after losing 1-0 to Luton, who are now only in the bottom three on goal difference thanks to Kazenga LuaLua's late winner.
• Fulham keep their slim automatic promotion chances alive after a 5-3 triumph over Sheffield Wednesday - Neeskens Kebano and Aleksandar Mitrovic each scored twice.
• Cardiff need only a point on the final day to claim the final play-off spot thanks to their 3-1 win at Middlesbrough - Swansea's 1-0 victory over Bristol City means they're the only side who can catch them.
• Millwall's hopes of a top-six finish are over after a 4-3 defeat by QPR, while Blackburn beat Reading by the same score.
• Birmingham are still not safe from the drop - depending on what happens with Wigan's 12-point deduction - following a 2-0 loss at Preston.

Cardiff are in pole position for the final play-off spot after a comfortable win at Middlesbrough.

Welsh rivals Swansea are the only team that can deny them a top-six finish.

There was nothing riding on this but these two sides produced a great game as a late Sam Gallagher header snatched the points for Rovers.

Luton have done it, Hull are all-but relegated.

Despite an inspired second-half display it looked like the Hatters would have to settle for a draw, but Kazenga LuaLua's fine late strike means they are now only inside the bottom three on goal difference.

Hull are three points from safety with a 16-goal swing in goal difference to overhaul 21st-placed Charlton - though Wigan's possible 12-point deduction could yet be a lifeline.

That's it for Preston - the end of their home campaign, and one that ends with three points. But, of course, there will be no lap of the pitch to thank the fans this season after the final whistle, that would be pointless.

Instead, with their play-off prospects now officially over, they will be left to reflect on a run of form that cost them a place in the top six. This is just their second win since the restart.

They have been top of the table this season and right up there for most of it but arguably their lack of a regular goalscorer has cost them.

Midfielder Daniel Johnson is the top scorer this season with 12 goals - and that is the problem for Alex Neils' team right there. Lots of quality - apart from where it matters most.

Connor Roberts' first-half goal means Swansea still have a chance of claiming a play-off place going into the final day.

Bristol City are now out of the race, with Famara Diedhiou seeing his second-half penalty hit the post.

This one has a while left yet.

Luton's Martin Cranie has a cut to the face and is being treated.
