Yeah,"mouse" is in there.

Iain Ross
I would recognise Jermey Thorpe anywhere (on the right)

Gill Abbott
I made a banner for my husband to take to Wembley "Osborne takes the biscuit". Only one other banner (I think) contained Osborne's name "Rich Osborne never crumbles". Any chance you might be able to find them in your archives!!

Ipswich skipper Mick Mills is being hugged by George Burley's mother and the man on the right is Frank Howerd, proprietor of the Westerfield House Hotel

Can't help with the names I'm afraid. I was stuck in the opposite end! I was working in Iran and flew back especially for the final, but the friends who got me the ticket came from (shhhhh) Norfolk and got it through one of their football clubs (not Norwich!). So, unfortunately for me, it was in the Arsenal end of the ground! I must have been the quietest Ipswich supporter there when the goal was scored! Made up for it afterwards though. And I'm so glad I was able to be there.

Photo 7 - That's Jeremey Thorpe on the right (who i believe went to the game with a Tony Swallow, Jason Dozzell's brother) - he, Jeremy, almost made it as a pro-player too, with QPR. He was very well known around the SIL league. He's still about Ipswich.

Is picture five Delia Smith? That would throw the cat among the pigeons... or should I say canaries!

I remember the emotion of singing Abide With Me in the heat of that wondeful old stadium that day. I remember the wonderful atmosphere. I was 15 and was there with my brother. We were both season ticket holders at the time and regularly travelled to away matches as well. The absolute relief when that ball hit the back of the net toward the 77th minute was enormous but the tension until the end of the match after that was almost unbearable! I seem to remember the ref did a lap of honour at the end as well as our players! It was a fantastic day, winning through as underdogs that year. Our coach queued for ages to get out of the Wembley car park, but on the trip back, there were still people stood by the side of the road waving and giving the coaches the thumbs up, and some had even made cards to hold up saying "Well done Ipswich". The date has remained my most memorable date ever since even though years later, I live in Hertfordshire and seldom get back for a game...I spend more time in the Kop now with my partner. But those memories will remain with me. I confess I had a little crush going on after that day for David Geddis and I made a card for him drawing a characiture of him on the front. He sent me a lovely hand written letter back which I still have to this day. He said he'd have the card as a special memory for years to come. I doubt that is true now, but it was a lovely gesture by him!! Now 45, I still hold special memories of that day and also the many miles I travelled home and abroad following Ipswich Town. My brother is still a season ticket holder all these years later. I bought every newspaper the next day and still have the scrap books! ...and the scarf and handmade rosette!!!

I was 10 years old, I went to every FA cup fixture that year except the final. I was broken hearted but was over the moon when Town won. My mum, sister and me all went wild when we Roger Osbourne scored then nerves towards the end of the game were unbearable. I'll be forty soon and can still name the 78 squad! Truely fantastic memories!

As a 7 year old, my whole family went to wembley that day. My dad was left with me and my twin brother, in our old house on Bramford Lane. The whole afternoon, not a single car moved on the lane. When the final whistle went, Patrick and I did a lap of honour with our Subbuteo FA cup, around Brooks Hall road, Waterloo road, Chevalliar street, and back home.I am sure that on the phot with the flags, my aunt Jill Betts, made the flag saying Mariner sinks Nelson...and I'm sure that she still has it.Me and Patrick now both run pubs in Norwich, still Blue and proud!! My kids are all true blue too!!

Picture 5 is ED NICHOLLS now of Gemini Travel (with his 'then' wife, Ed's now re-married!)Picture 7 the 'snarling' man on the right is JERRY THORPE who made quite a name for himself as a player at local SIL. level then, lastly, as Coplestonians Manager in the SIL. Jerry has now 'drifted' out of the game which is a great loss to local football.
