"Work hard, don't give up, and enjoy what you do," says the 400m World Champion.

Raise Your Game: How do you come back after a disappointing result?

Jeremy Wariner: It's easy. I'm motivated by wanting to get back on top. I may have to run or train even harder but I can't give up on myself

Always follow your dreams whatever happens. No matter what anybody says, keep doing it and work harder. I know I'm going to have to work even harder to get back on top, and I'm looking forward to that.

JW: Be calm. You can't give up when you're on the start line. Think of all the hard work you've done in the past to get you there. You have to remember that you're ready. You can't do anything else from there on to get you prepared for the race, you've done everything you can. If you don't win, you don't win. Look to your next race and try harder next time.

RYG: Give us some idea of the level of preparation that goes into a race?

JW: It's a high level. I'm on the track every day working hard, giving it all I've got. When I've done my practice I'm tired and hurting. I lay it all on the line, so when I get to the stadium, I'm ready to run.

RYG: How do you feel the night before a big race?

JW: I don't feel much the night before a big race. I don't worry about the race. If I think about the race too much I'll be up all night and I'll get no rest. I treat it as a normal day. I try to treat every meet the same, whether it's an Olympic games or running at home at a small meet. I prepare the same way for every single track meet.

RYG: What advice would you give to young people who would like to follow in your footsteps?

JW: Work hard, don't give up, and enjoy what you do.
