Amy Winehouse - 'You Know I'm No Good'
If, like me, you're a disciple of tabloid rumour and wicked whisper, you'll have formed quite the opinion of Ms Amy Jade Winehouse. Since she arrived on the scene, she's made a name for herself in the press on charges of booze-related badbehavioury and other alleged naughty antics.
But the release of 'Back to Black', one of the most impressive albums of 2006, proved that there's a lot more to this lady than it might first appear as she stumbles out of a club in the early hours throwing chips at the waiting paparazzi.
'You Know I'm No Good' sees her laying her soul on the line. With striking honesty she admits her infidelities and grimly accepts that it's only herself that gets hurt in the end - "I cheated myself like I would. I told you I was trouble."
And then, in there mixed with the grandiose brass and the raw emotion are the humdrum details that is the reason why she stands head and shoulders above most song writers - "I'm in the tub, you on the seat. You lick your lips as I soak my feet."
With her recent announcement that she's been approached to write the theme for the next Bond movie, we're rubbing our hands together with glee at the prospect of a Winehouse heavy 2007.
Released:January 8th
