Biffy Clyro - 'Saturday Superhouse'
If you believe the music press and have no imagination whatsoever, this band - three piece, rockers, gravelly singing, acidic guitars - are 'The New Nirvana' and are therefore about to become a very big deal indeed (this is after a few years of being a medium-sized deal. They were a fillet burger meal deal before then, but no-one really knew about it).

Anyway, there's nothing to say here that Biffy fans don't already know. For you newbies, it's probably useful to point out that the band share more musical DNA with the Foo Fighters (certainly the voice isn't a million miles away from that of Strainin' Dave Grohl) than they do with Nirvana, and that this is the kind of headspinning pop rock that there just isn't enough of in our charts these days. Pop, yes...rock, yep...but putting the two together and not being rubbish? Rarer than a woodpecker's toothbrush.
Again, to pick a comparison which is only going to annoy Team Biffy, the slabs of breezeblock guitar, stop-start dynamics and bellyscreams are Fightstar and the tune and general ear-friendliness are Son Of Dork, put them together and what have you got? That's right, Biffy Clyro are the new Busted! You read it here first (and I am going to run away and hide now...)

I love this song. I have loved this band forever and I am so happy to see them getting the success they so rightly deserve. (at last)
MON THE BIFFY
Compare lyrics like "Sink with your wasted dreams when you can, Find time to console them, become what I am " (Biffy Clyro) and "Air hostess I like the way you dress" (Busted) and there is no comparison. Listen to "There's no such thing as a jaggy snake" and "Year 300" - no comparison. Nor do Biffy pretend to be American a-la Son of Dork, and they can actually play their instruments, sing and play their instruments at the same time, and know how to plug their instruments in rather than just jumping round the stage. Let it also be mentioned that this is Biffy's fourth album and they were around before Busted. They are not concerned about making poor records and selling millions of them, but in making good music no matter how many people like it. They are not the next Busted.

Liked Biffy since around 2004 when they were still a sleeping giant. Not sure how mainstream Biffy will be for me. Musically, they'll still rock just as much as before but there was something intimate about being 2 metres away from the band for the December 06 gigs at King Tuts in Glasgow. Just hope that won't be gone for good. Anyhoo. Still, I have no complaints about listening to Biffy (and now the Klaxons) on Radio 1 rather than exclusively on my Pod! 'Mon the Biffy!
WHAT?!!! Biffy Clyro are nothing like Busted!! Think you need your ears washing out!! I saw them in Manchester the other day and they were fantastic!!! They deserve to be where they are now - long time coming though eh?!! Simon rocks - sweat, spit n all!!! xx
like busted.....as much as i know these guys are going to get massive, i dont think busted and biffy go hand in hand, lyrically nor musically.
You have to remember, this is the first sort of major release for these guys and with someone who hasnt heard the album yet screaming theyre sounding like busted isnt going to do anyone any favours is it.
I have to admit, maybe this is a case of bad journalism in which obviously the person who wrote this clearly has no idea of the bands previous material, so heres to another main stream journalist critic who knows nothing about music.
[OK, one last try. The Busted thing was a joke. It was a joke aimed at the fact that as soon as a rock band go from cult status to wider fame, they are immediately described (by idiots) as 'The New Someone', and the comparisons used are often based in silly facts like there are three people in Biffy and there were three in Nirvana. There were also three people in Busted, do you see? - Fraser]
The new Busted? A load of rubbish. Biffy's early stuff is amazing, and their new material is just as good. I'm so glad they're getting this recognition now!! MON THE BIFFY!
Ben and James are both from Kilmarnock and support their local team Kilmarnock FC. This coming Sunday, Killie are playing in the CIS Cup Final against Hibs. In honour of this, Rolf Harris has re-recorded his song, Fine Day.

Fraser only name-dropped Busted to get a response from people, which seems to have worked. If a connection between these 2 bands exists, it is that Charlie Fightstar probably got alot of inspiration from Biffy Clyro.
I was fortunate enough to catch Biffy at a relatively early gig at the Dublin Castle in 2000. They were the runts of the emerging rock underground (hundred reasons, thisGirl, hell is for heroes etc), yet are now set to be one of the biggest to have come from that scene.
They've done the hard-graft; now it's payback time. Well done!

Biffy are amazing!! love this band so much!! go watch these guys live, and listen to all 3 albums! And u shall see they have nothing in common what so ever with bands like busted or son of dork!! If u listen properly!! Like really properly!! U can tell they are Scot’s! They sound nothing like a processed American band dressed in converse trainers and with the sweeping fringe! This band is amazing! MON THE BIFFY!!!
In answer to everyone saying that BIFFY ARE NOTHING LIKE BUSTED you seem to be implying that it was just a joke made because when a band make it big they are reffered to as 'the new somenone', like Biffy have been reffered to as 'the new Nirvana' - which you think in itself makes no sense because you believe that Biffy sound nothing like or share nothing in common with Nirvana apart from being a three piece.
However, the 'new Nirvana' thing is grounded in truth as both bands share incredible stage presence, especially Simon as he emits both the emotion and energy that Kurt Cobain did, alot of the early Biffy stuff was rooted in Nirvana with the loud/quiet dynamics (they even played Nirvana covers, and if you listen to the Cathouse gig bootleg you can hear how Simon's voice is heavily influenced by Kurt's), the lyrics share the same emotion and personal depth that Nirvanas did, and of course amongst other things, they are both incredibly powerful three pieces.
So, before making a comment that you perceive to be funny, check to make sure it is.
[I wouldn't wish being 'the new Nirvana' on my worst enemy, Rodders. All that expectation? And anything short of total legendary status being seen as failure? Stuff that!
And let's not forget, when Nirvana came out, they had the NME front cover 'The Gun 'n' Roses it's OK to like...'. Can't they just be Biffy Clyro? A great band who are finally getting the recognition they deserve? Just a thought. - Fraser]
