My England makeover

A sequel of sorts to my 'through the keyhole' post (I'm sure you've been waiting for just that?!)...this time with clothing. Ooohhhh!
I've got some new England stuff to wear for the match, so I'm going to look like a proper fan...
Item 1 - whilst Mark and I went shopping for BBQ food we stumbled upon a bargain 1966 T-shirt (only 5 euros). Not only was this a bargain purchase but it was all the stranger being that we got it from a German superrmarket and it says on the back the scoreline from the 1966 final (4-2 to England) in German. Surely a collectors item.
Item 2 - I've got Chris and Dave to thank for this beauty! This was part of a gift pack when they went for dinner with the FA after the England - Ecuador match. My new lucky cap for the next England game...errr, maybe not.
I meant to do these photos earlier in the day but never got round to it. As I was putting some pictures online from tonight of Aled out and about in the local town I thought I may as well take the photo myself. Mistake. At 1am a big flash going off right in your face is not a good look!
Football talk...
All that aside we watched the France - Spain game in the local town square on a big screen and thankfully it was a whole lot more enjoyable than Switzerland V Ukraine. Even the penalty shoot out in that match was boring! What a goal from Zindane as well to wrap the match up 3-1 in France's favour. The man is a legend so its good to see he will be gracing international football for at least one more game. Maybe his last game will be against England in the semi-finals?

Hey Matt,
You seem to have a blast. Keep that T-shirt for Helen. She arrived in London for the first time when that match was on and Bani had to get her from the Heathrow airport and missed watching the match. She was never forgiven. You never know if it weren’t for that trip you probably wouldn’t be wearing that T-shirt today...
We are having fun here in USA watching great soccer and now Wimbledon. Good luck England.

I feel very bad about the officiating going on in the World Cup. The record number of 'cards' given speaks volumes about the direction in which the sports is going. Too much officiating especially bad decisions kills the game. Here is my solution:
In this age of technology of having 20 or so cameras in the arena catching every aspect of the player, it is better to have a 'senior strictly non-partisan, experienced, currently retired refree sitting in the control room and giving his opinion about the "call" the referee on the ground is doing. The refree on the field can heed the advice if the rule says so or just take as an opinion. This should make the "bad calls" and the cards syndrome go away and people having more faith in the referees. A SINGLE DECISION CAN SEAL THE FATE OF A NATION.
SECONDLY, The referees whistle should be amplified for all the players on the field to hear over the cat calls and the 'illegal whistles' used by the spectators. Four small speakers can be placed almost 6 to 7 feet above ground in all four corners so that when referee whistles all the players can hear him clearly.
Without a new technological bail out the game is being butchered by the referees and harshly punishing the players and a nation and all the soccer fans all over the world.
