Russell Brand

Crossing the Streams

  • Mr Gee
  • 7 Nov 07, 01:58 PM

It was great to see Matt back behind the mic again, he came in looking all calm and rested with that "Hey, I've just been on holiday relaxing in tropical streams and may I say that the world is a beautiful place," look on his face.

I was actually grinning as his first call of duty was to try and restore some semblence of order by suggesting that we have more items on the show.

I guess that this was an attempt to introduce some sort of structure to the evening's proceedings.

Russell reacted as if he'd just been set some last-minute chemistry homework on the final day of school!

Still we soldiered on and poked fun at the subjects of celibacy, pornography and ridiculed stereotypes.

In the midst of all these crossed streams of consciousness, Russell did eventually find the time introduce a few new items.

There was: "Matt's Interesting Facts", "Other things that Matt has noticed" and "Matt says 'Baby' a lot!"

If you have any more items that we can lumber on Matt, feel free to send them in and include a jingle if you can.

I've actually enjoyed listening to all the different jingles that you guys have sent in (keep 'em coming). Some of them were really innovative and professionally done, others were just raw and waaay "out there".... (those are the ones that I like!).

There'll be no show this week as we've got to make way for the Rememberance Day service broadcast on Saturday, but keep sending in those jingles and suggestions.

A Fistful of Fiddlesticks

Whoever would attempt to second guess this pair together,
A Crouching Swarmi mohair sweater,
A walnut head item expressor,
Let us not forget, this celebacy endeavour,
A pornography possessor, a ditch water digestor,

Apparently many a professor,
Denied themselves the simple pleasure,
Preferring to base their thoughts and lives...
...on either: the neither, nor, or never.

Fiddlesticks!
Beware an attack of the pin-pricks,
As Mayor Vader avoids the brown bed but still downloads a Tushy Kiss,
Has it come to this?
Discussing the bliss of an elephant's kiss?
Or trying to show "love" to everyone, with just a fist on a stick!

    Dear Mr Gordon Brown,
It greatly annoyed me to hear the press and other parties go for you yesterday, as a result of the queens speech.
It seems to me that there are very sour grapes inded about your position as Prime Minister. Personally I am believing that you are trully the man for the job.
The Lib dems, attacked you, there was so little evidence of any wrong doing or anything with which to condemn you for, they concocted a pathetic monologue to try and put you down, the same was to be said for the Cons.
Now, I reckon you are doing really well.
You know what you want, and steadily and slowly intend to go towards that goal.
I think this is what is getting up theit noses.
The fact that you are not all guns ablazing!
You are dignified and I hope you wont get caught uop in their petty inconsequential arguments. Its up to you to raise the bar.
When you have established that you are not in it for the bickering and want to focus on the business of sucssesfully governing the country, there is a small chance that the others will fall into line.
Absolutely nothing can be achieved by running the race of party competitiveness.
All parties are representing the country.
I feel that a terrible darkness has krept into parliament.
    Spurred on by the press.
It would aim to detract from progress.
It focuses on the trivial, to keep any real cohesion and resolution from taking plave.
It is trully not about personalities.
Personalities cannot fight to be heard.
The government needs to be a force for the good.
    Setting and Honerable example.

You were right to speak of vision.
This country will be great with vision.
It is the trivial, know it all attitude that would fight the call to vision.
Things are not at all obvious and are left to chance and deviation without vision.
Without vision, all of the bickering and noncense is legitamised and given creadance.
A vision is something that serves as a measuring yard and will show up all that falls out of balance.
    This country desparately needs balance.
I believe and hope you can see that vision through.
The country suffers with over stimulationa nd no longer thinks objectivly.
It is subdued by reenforcement from a synthetic culture.
    People are blinded.
If you can establish enough stability and clarity, parhaps the nation will be able to let go and be a little more creative and altruistic.
I draw a comparison with the churches, Mr. Brown. They all believe that each denomination is the only way.
They almost believe that to be a member of another denomination compremises the members salvation. Each denomination fails to communicate with the other, going it alone and achieving very little. As it has to spend all its time defending and proclaiming the rightness of bing within that particular denomination. Subsequently, it is insular, making rules and mandates that would stop and inhibit the original source which is God.
They forget that they are all part of one God, with one purpose.
They are inefective because of this one important point.
So they actually become secular to the extent that they can appear to the secular world that they are progressive.
When they are supposed to appear as different, by their alleigance to God and the prerequisit characteristics of a Godly person.
Someone, not aspiring to all of the good things this world has to offer. But relying on God to guide their thinking and attitudes.

Can you see where I am trying to go?

The elected government, The Lords, the Commons, a democratic system, has been reduced to an irreverant Bun fight.

All the best Mr Brown, I hope the country will prosper under your leadership.
You must not listen to the poisenous arrows shot by the enemies.
It was not a failure to not have a general election.
    My hope rests in you.

    Youre the Daddy!

    Hi guys.
I went to church today, for the first time in about 3 months.
It was good to be back.
I saw my friend Steve, who goes there.

He gave me some really bad news.
Kelly, a working girl, who calls round my house a coupla times a week, to get a glass of water, has died.

Apparently it was a blood clot.
The last time I saw her she said the hospital didnt take her in.

Over the few years I have known her, I always joked, that it would devastate me if she died.

But with drugs and all the complications, its a game of Russian Roulette.

I had high hopes for Kell.
She was only young, mid twenties.

Such a happy lass till she got beaten up last
    summer.

At the time I had heard screaming in the middle of the night, didnt bother to get up.
It turned out a punter had stamped on her head.
    She was a bit concussed.
She was really subdued for ages.

Recently, shes been on a bit of a mission, not really making any progress, cos she had a dealer boyfriend and it had made her a bit cocky I think she thought she was invinsible.

She was picking up her sister, Tracy's kids from school. I had asked her to give me some of her poetry, so I could put it on this blogg.

    Now thats it.
I,ll go and see Tracy if I can, maybe see if she can find the poetry.

    So sad.
    What a wake up call.
You just get over one thing and theres the next.
A reminder that all is not as it seems.
My littluns dad died a year ago.

    Life is delicate.
Its not all about the latest gear you can get.

    Its not about things.

Its about the precious essence of life we share together.

Whatever you choose to believe, its your owen journey.

Nobody can take it for you.

Some would say that sadness and suffering, just proove that God doesnt care.

    I disagree.

When you look out of the window, or glance over from where you sit, you could be on the cusp of something magnificent happening.

Or not, but one thing we can be sure of is that we cannot predict what our future will hold.

We can say that things will happen, good or bad.

But ultimately how we respond to them will make us the person we will be.
Our destiny is not as powerful as who we are within it.
We can find majesty in the twinkling of an eye.

Seeing a new perspedctive can totally turn our lives around.
If we search for the truth, where will we find it.
As unique human beings, it will be different for each of us.
This maze of life, has not set out to confuse and lose us.
It has taken us to one side, in order to get our attention.
    Away from desires distractions.
We will search for clarity of being and find it, if we are committed.
All the things around us, the daily functions are all incidental.
We must go beyond them, not live for them.
We must touch the eternal, the etheral.
Taste that it is good and live alongside it, feeding from it.

Be warned, there are no quick fixes.
Truth can only be found, when you let go of your preconceptions.
The step of faith must be in essence, a letting go of ourselves. Almost dying and being reborn into the sublime.
Everything still falls into place, but not in a way that you would expect.
We have to see everything as if for the first time.

    I have to go now,
    Ilove you
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thankyou for posting my letter to Gordon Brown.
I wrote to him the other day because I felt that he was being irrationally bullied by the agendas of others.
Not giving him a chance to breath.
I know we live in the fast lane.
But sometimes it feels like things have got a bit out of hand.

The reason I,m writing this, is to say that, my letter to him, was not a reflection of any preferance towards him or the labour party.

I was not taking sides or showing support for him, because I frankly, do not know the man or how he moves in his own political arena.

As the Prime Minister, though, I felt he should be free from the barrage of attack he gets every time he moves to the left or to the right, excuse the punn!

There is a public interest at stake here as well.

A huge smoke screen can and frequently does eminate, from the media and government parties.

As they work together as a great pumping machine, puffing out points of view, as if they reflect what the country are thinking.
But in actual fact, are subliminaly telling the public what they should and want to think.

MMMMMMmm, something is a little awraye in that.

Is there a great damand for the consumers of papers and opinionated discussions, to be told what you want to think?

Surely facts should be reported, with a balance of opinions to allow the member of public make up their own mind.

Are we now't but pigs, wallowing around in our fodder, hungry to eat any old rubbish.

If we are ,then as a country we will end up being our own worst enemy.

We watch and read and listen in good faith, to base our opinions on what we trust are
    intelligent observations.
Sometimes unaware of the hidden agendas.
    This doesnt instill confidence.

I think it is a shame that parties can,t work together to efficiently govern the country.
The one institution where there is a title endowed of good faith, the title, "Honourable."

A shame it is an empty endowment and means nothing but the payment of lip service.

Surely the points of divergance, that differentiate each party, could have the potential of acting as strengths.

Instead, the parties have a culture of emnity at the top.

So desparate are parties to be top dog.

They end up trying to devour what they see, as their oponent.

The idea of having different parties is a good one. In each organisation there are going to be really good points and really bad points.
When they come together a counter balance takes place.
    Offering a broader view.
All issues must be looked at from different perspectives to cater to the diverse people the issue may effect.

There needs to be more cooperation in the Commons.

Those not at the top, can dedicate themselves to assist in finding the truth, goodness and maximum benefit to the country and its place in the world.

Small voices can be very loud if rooted in truth and courage for the good.

The task at hand is to compliment the house and serve the country.

To serve the ambitions of individual parties is crazy.
Everyone is there for the same reason, or at least should be.

There is nothing wrong in wanting this country to prosper economically.
But this country needs to restore its spirit and soul.
It needs to stand for something.

Historically and still now internationally we are regognized for our fairness and propriety.

It would be a shame to lose that for the tasty rewards of a guttersnipe.
It really is a worthless practice to tell people how to think, least of all the elected members.

So when the media offer up opinions, and elected members of parliament colude, feeding into the propaganda, media machine.
The whole purpose of democracy and freedom is lost, watered down.
Things are spinningly stirred up, into a culture of overall discontent.

I would like to suggest that the cultivation of general disaproval should be nurtured to meet the continuation of such practice.

I feel cautioned, to rectify any impression that my letter to Gordon Brown would endorse him or guarantee, that I think he is a good responsibile Prime Minister.

No man is ever truly,"good", he can only do his best.
It is up to him, how he will execute his position in office, after all he is only a man, as are we all.
    Fallable.

But with a decent house behind him, offering constructive support, he can do better than if everyone attacks him.

It would be a great day, to see the commons falling into place and acting as it was once planned to do.

There is a place for personal sniping, I don,t think that place is the Commons.
The workplace needs to change and only those working in it can improve it by showing some personal restraint and slowly changing the cultural sterio type.

There is a code of conduct upheld in civilized British society, that has fallen by the way side, in the one place it would really make a difference.

Only the best and almost super human in my eyes, well actually every decent person, of whom I do not seem to be one, can keep themselves from revelling and glorifying in slander and gossip.

There must be some effort though and achnowledgement that as a general goal, we must try to change.
Even if we fail nine times out of ten, which I do every time.

We must recognise that it is right to refrain even if we find it almost impossible to do so.

It is so tempting and easy to do the wrong thing.
It is one of my greatest, moral, spiritual and physical fights in life.
I always seem to end up sounding like a broken record, full of jaded, suspicion and superiority.

To be patient and true, with one end being, that of goodness, may seem boring, dull, tasteless and bland.

But Fleet Street have gone so far over the other side, overseasoning opinions, running juicy, but vacuous, heartbreaking private stories, to keep us all alert.
To sell papers and make it all seem so exciting, leading Joe public to have a warped view of life.
We all end up regurgittating aspects of it all, in our lifestyles.
Sick to the back teeth of its insideousness,
but never having experienced any other way.

The end result is us, all consuming, unbearably toxic and unpalitably over hyped bubbles of nothingness.

But we keep going back for more, no winners, only losers,
    believe me.

    Two proverbs for the Commons.
    Proverbs of the day.

    Enjoy:

    1. A fool is quick tempered; a wise man stays cool when insulted.

    2. Self control means controlling the tongue.
A quick retort can ruin everything.

    HA HA.
Actually I am quite pleased that you are on their radar now.

I did wonder if the revolutuion, was in the process of ruffling some feathers.

WELL, one flatters ones self that it has.

I cant believe that the Daily Mail would give so much credance to someone so, "fringe and edgy"

Quite unlike the stories they would tend to run usually.

    Hey babie!!!
    Brandy is selling papers.

It does make a change from the endless runs of the parents, of poor little Maddie.

They must spend time reasearching and trying to look into your life.
Please ,please, dont be upset Russell.
I dont know who said, they would rather be talked about than forgotten, was it Oscar Wild or Quentin Krisp? [Probably neither]

I do think it was a bit invasive for the journalist to turn up at your Mums door.
Trying to bully her into submision.
"Oh, Hi, I,m from the daily mail, could I have a few words"
    Eh?
    Choice words indeed.
Like the witch goin round to Snow Whites with the apple.
"Hello dear, look at my apples, it would be so sweet if you would take one"
    NO NO!
    Dont speak to her!!!!

I think parliament ought to pass some bills to stop the invasive behaviour of the paparrazzi.

If they were reporting a story that would enlighten or inform the public then the journalist would only be doing their jobs, fair enough.

But due to the fact that the scoop was already there in black and white in the Biooky Wook, for all to see already, one does question the motive.
Also theres the fact that you are brutally confessional and self debacing of the shamefull things of life.

To the point of using them as the subject matter of stand up and you discuss it openly on air, it is quite surprising that the journalist thought she was uncovering something new.

It was information we were already privvy to at Russells consent and to take the time out to slate him, unprovoked with spitefull intent, means, to me that they either feel threatened, or that Russell sells papers and is becoming the object of "the most talked about"

It is quite flattering that they are tittilated by your lifestyle. As you said yourself it makes you look alot more interesting than you are.
    Giving you a misterious tone.

A fine example of the puff of smoke and pantominme tactics used to sell papers and tell the readers what and who is acceptaple and what is not.
Rather than letting them make up their own minds.
Mrs Brand should be so proud,
Not of your shameful past and impulses in full public view.
But of the magnificent journey we are all on.
Her dear little boy is causing waves all over the world.
His dear heart is troubled to make the world a better place with his vivacious laughtrer and sweet honest outlook.
Russ has never pretended to be anything he is not.
    NO MAAM!
I aspire to the idea, that people would be indeed inriched if they were set free from the sort of prohibition of life propagated by TV and the media.
We all need laws and rules to have a civilized society.
But within them we can still use our humanity as a journey of exploration.
We must not be condstrained by the laws and rules.
We must use life too be creative and free thinking.
    Away from narrow minded mandates.

Anyone speaking out against those trying to break the chains will immediately draw negative attention from those who hold the power.

They accuse you of doing what they themselves do without concience, on a daily basis.
    They sell out.
    They break social barriers.
They consistently cross the line of morality.
They have no manners or consideration.

To me Russell holds a hope.
The hope of miraculously turning life around.
After all, a few years ago, Mrs Brand wouldnt have had a national tabloid tapping at her door,to look for a sensation, to sell her rag!!!

If it wasnt for the tallents of her son, and dedication of friends and possibly some divine intervention, who would know when the door would be knocked, or what the story would be.
I am reffering to the general outcome to a life on of drugs.
