hehehe . . . i'm an american living in france . . . yeah, the mechanic probably is coming from france. but don't worry, he hasn't left here yet! he'll leave tomorrow morning some time before lunch! and of course he'll break for a nice, long, two hour lunch. . . just make sure he isn't too drunk when he works on svan.

I was able to see the Serbia & Montenegro VS Holland Game. In spite of Serbia & Montenegro attempting to defend itself, Holland managed to get one goal and remain with one goal until the end of the game.

Group D Started with Mexico VS Iran. I was able to enjoy part of the game on Radio Caracol and on the television sets in a Miami Shopping Mall [where many store owners watched the World Cup with their employees]. The score was 1 to 0 in favor of Mexico [while I was having Coffee at a Coffee Shop].

Afterwards, I was able to see some part of the game. Finally, I went to an electronic store [where the owners and employees were watching the World Cup] and inquired about Mexico VS Iran. Their reply: "Mexico 3 Iran 1". It was a great game [even though I was able to appreciate portions of the game].

I am still writing from the shopping mall and I am seeing Portugal 1 Angola 0. I will be back later.

Why not take the useual british approach to camper vans breaking down? Firstly and most importantly put the kettle on, get out the biscuits and the tea :D

Then give the campervan club a call for advice as to how to make a great cup of tea, useing the over heated radio as a cheaper alternative to using the electric kettle.

Finally kick the engine in sandels. Ensureing a stubbed toe and a magically restarted engine :D

I just finished hearing about Portugal's victory over Angola in a Miami Shopping Mall. I was at a computer store and one of the computers had a Windows Media Player and Radio Mundial [a Portuguese Radio Station transmitting over the internet].

*** SVAN UPDATE ***

The mechanic has been and gone and will return first thing in the morning with a tow truck - there's a problem with the fuel pump.

So we're stuck in a car park with no amenities wondering if we'll ever get out of Troisdorf - such is life.

Are you sure that Svan has been taking enough water on board? He's obviously suffering in the heat!

O God No Svan Is Well And Trully F**ked Now! dammit.

I guess that in typical english luck something else would go wrong, the fuel pump's now mukked up.

How comes you can't get a breakdown firm in Germany or in the area that you're currently in to come and fix SVAN!

Dont tell me that he's taking after SVEN in that once he's hot and flustered he just breaks down completly - both on and off the pitch!

Would be a real shame to have your reports from the rest of the WC limited to the daily activities of German car park attendants...

*** SVAN UPDATE ***

We are now in a Fiat garage on the outskirts of Troisdorf waiting for the verdict on Svan.

More than two hours ago Svan pulled up outside the garage on the back of a tow truck. A very sorry looking sight.

Heinz is on the case, but the mutterings emanating from the service mechanic as he tried to start the engine did not fill us with hope.

Fingers crossed.

Oh, sorry to say Barry that I am not from Maidstone and Ricco is not from Brixton.

The car park where your van sits looks pretty capacious. Could the teams not come to you? England and T&T on Thursday. They do the football, you do breakfast for 22 in the morning and hot, sweet tea on tap.

Bad luck to both of you re SVAN. However it would have been better if you were driving a McClaren! Seems like you have reached the knockout stages already. Let's hope England do the same!

I'm with hannah on making a cup of tea etc. From my experience of touring round New Zealand in a baby one of those, you might want to check that you have enough gas, fuel and water and that the battery works while your at the garage. First camping site I got to in one of those, I ran out of gas electric and water!
