Paracetamol, bitte

FRANKFURT - A day of recovery. There were English bodies strewn around the city centre and along the river this morning and many still immobile this afternoon, although a quick wash in one of the fountains seemed to help.
For some it was their first sleep for 48 hours after driving through Friday night.
Combined with a hot day, strong German lager and a tub-thumping, invigorating performance from the team (erm, actually I made that bit up - watching the match was more like being given a sedative) no wonder the English were happy to slink into the background and let the Iranian and Mexican fans take centre stage.
Many who watched the game on the river complained they had to queue for up to two hours for beers. Perhaps today their heads are thankful.

The English should take a note from the Mexican side for advice on beer, heat recovery and scoring goals.

The Mexicans were rather happy, I could see from the pics on Sky News, and the English? Any excuse to take a dip in the river. Is it really that hot up there? Down here (Kenya) it's rather cold. Great job guys.

With the best team since 1970 it is so frustrating to watch the worst manager since Graham Taylor ruin englands chances!!! Also Crouch needs to go if he wanted a target man then why not go for someone that can actually header and isn't clumsy maybe Kevin Davies or Ashton!!!! I just hope Rooney can win every game on his own with Sven in charge!!!

I disagree with Sam. ROBOCrouch has been our best performing front man for the last few games. The best is yet to come and we will easily make the second round without Rooney.

I was at the Fan Fest on Saturday and although the Germans laid on fantastic seating and viewing areas, they have to review their policy on allowing bottles of water into this area. We were searched on the way in and told to throw away the plastic bottles of water....fair enough, I suppose, but then you had to buy water from the sellers by the stands. After queueing for 45 minutes and not getting any closer to the front, we had to walk out and leave the Fan Fest area. It was a real disappointment as it seems making money (4 Euros for a water, if you wait 2 hours...) is more important than looking after the well being of 25,000 dehydrated supporters....

I was by the Main and had no problem waiting for beer. In fact the problem involved getting too much beer!
What a great atmosphere down there, absolutely brilliant. Some photos from the river side prior to and after the game here:

I think the policy about the bottles has already been changed. Yesterday, people were allowed to bring plastic bottles in. Waiting time for beer: 5 min. And the place was crowded, even though not as packed as when Germany (or England) are playing.
