Elton John returns to Norfolk

Elton John has announced a special outdoor summer show at Holkham Hall, near Wells-Next-The-Sea, on Sunday, 14 June, 2009. Get your picnic blankets, cricket bats and vocal-chords ready!

World famous musician and everyone's favourite Rocket Man Elton John will be appearing during the summer of 2009 in the idyllic setting of Holkham Hall on the North Norfolk coast.

Picnic style

Concert-goers are invited to pull out the picnic blankets as Elton provides a showcase of his hits at the historic cricket ground adjacent to the hall. The Holkham Hall show will be one of only two concerts the artist will perform in the UK in 2009.

Elton's last visit to Norfolk was in 2005 when he played at Norwich City FC. The sell out show saw 22,000 fans enjoy an experience to remember.

"There's something very special about playing at such a historic site. One feels very grand with a stately home as a backdrop!" said Elton John.

"I love playing in Britain on a warm summer's evening and having an enormous picnic under an open sky is the perfect way to start. We'll be pulling out all the stops to make it a fantastic show," he added.

If you haven't been to see Elton in concert before, go with an open mind says promoter Ben Martin.

Tantrums and tiaras

"I know a lot of peoples opinions of him will be the tantrums and tiaras they saw on television, but I think he is a 100% genuine, loves to get on stage, loves to perform and on Sunday, 14 June, 2008, he will be looking forward to playing at Holkham Hall," said Ben.

The picnic style event means that there are no reserved seats so you've got every chance of getting a brilliant view.

Around 15,000 tickets will go on sale and the timings for the gig have been adapted to allow a painless entry and exit to the venue.

"Because it's a Sunday we'll have a slightly earlier performance so people can get too and from the concert more easily," said Ben.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, 19 December, 2008 at 9am and can be purchased by phoning the Elton John 24 hour ticket hotlines or via the Internet. Tickets will not be available for purchase from Holkham Hall and Estate direct.
