Children and parents gathered at Fairhaven Primary School, near Norwich, for a Grab 5! event. Three women came to the school dressed as two peas in a pod and a carrot: they came to teach children about healthy eating.

"If you eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, you are 20% less likely to get cancer and heart disease," they explained.

In a wheelbarrow they had brought examples of frozen, tinned and fresh fruit and vegetables. They explained to the kids that all these were healthy for you so long as the fruit in the tins wasn't in syrup.

The School Council and the school Grab 5! representative arranged to buy a blender so they could give out free smoothies during the afternoon.

The school cook also made some fruity snacks for the children, teachers and parents to taste. Whether it was pomegranates, peach pastries or fruit kebabs, all the kids tried something new and most of them liked it.

The Grab5! team also provided stickers, wristbands, postcards and bookmarks to persuade children to eat more fruit and veg.

"I ate six apples!" said an excited, young reception child.

"Mrs Shepherd is now selling the fruit in the tuck shop!"

All the school enjoyed the Grab 5! event and will want to eat more fruit and vegetables in the future.
