On the 28 of May 2003 Jermaine's brother was in a car crash on Mapperly Hall Drive, Nottingham. The driver of the car lost control and crashed into a tree. Jermaine's brother, Mervyn Junior Gaye, did not survive. A place to thinkJermaine was 12 when his brother died. He is now 18. "You have those flash bulb memories like people know the time Princess Diana died." Jermaine will not forget the moment he learnt of his brother's fate.  Memorial to Mervyn Junior Gaye "I was coming home from school, watching a bit of Cartoon Network. My mum got a phone call from my dad. I just found out from a phone call." Jermaine feels a strong connection to the place where his brother died. "It makes me think about all the times of the past, what's going on at the moment and what's going to go on in the future. "It's a special place to me."
