Artist profile
I am a self-taught freelance artist based in Nottingham.
I have been living in Nottingham for 18 years in Mapperley Park.
I decided to come to Nottingham because of a job opportunity do to
with graphics design. The company I worked for went bust so I decided
to go freelance - I have general experience in graphics and advertising,
including posters book covers and magazine features.
My particular skills are high quality airbrush artwork. Like many
artists I was influenced as a teenager by the old masters Chester
Bonestell, and Salvador Dali etc. I am also a big fan of the film
titled - 2001 Space Odyssey - I liked the early 1970s retro-futuristic
look. This got me into science fiction and science fact - just the
right stuff to experiment with.
I call myself Cosmic Art because I was getting
a lot of freelance work from companys - Astronomy Magazine, Astronomy
Now, New Scientists - I also got some work from the late Carl Sagan
who had His own TV show Called the Cosmos.
Most of my paintings depict the future of the human race and science
nature.
My paintings have been shown in the Castle
Museum, I had a exhibition in Norwich School of Art and at the Serpentine
Gallery, London. I also get work from authors like Nigel Henbest and
Heather Couper doing their book covers.
