Kenneth sees himself as a natural leader, which is not surprising considering
he spent 22 years as a colour sergeant in the Royal Marines. Over the years, he
has relaxed into civilian life but he's still a military man at heart. "I
admire people of both sexes who can sort it out, get on with it and come back
with the result."
听
After leaving the Army, Kenneth pursued his interest in photography, first
becoming involved in the glamour industry before moving on to weddings. He also
works as a freelance driving instructor.
听
His service in the Marines has stood him in good stead, equipping him with a
can-do attitude. He is skilled at DIY and carpentry, can build shelters, kill
animals, fish for food, navigate with a compass and administer first aid.
听
With his laidback attitude, Kenneth admits that he doesn't get angry easily but
is aware that he can sometimes comes across as aggressive without even
realising it. At 64, he says he has achieved most of his life's ambitions but
still lives by the attitude that life is for living and is keen to tackle new
challenges.
听
Kenneth admits that he will find it hard to live without the love and support
of his family but, with his military experience and straightforward, no-
nonsense attitude, he is determined to succeed at life on the island.
听
"We have nothing to fear but fear itself. The power of the dark side is fear," he says.
