Just that one moment from Fuller changed the game. We thought Japan should win this game quite comfortably based on the form book but they were poor. They really struggled.
What a win for Costa Rica. They had to waste time and get energy back into the legs. They looked so much more organised today and made it that much more difficult for Japan.

Look at what this result means to the players of Costa Rica.
They end a seven-match winless run at the World Cup (W0-D4-L3, matches decided by a penalty shootout are classed as a draw).
Their last World Cup victories dated back to the 2014 group stage: against Uruguay (3-1) and Italy (1-0) respectively.
