An active cold front over England will clear away eastwards on Thursday evening. Behind this strong to gale force northwesterly winds already affecting the north and west will spread to all areas for a while, before a transient ridge of high pressure follows eastwards later tonight and on Friday. Then later on Friday and during Saturday a deep area of low pressure will follow from the west, bringing storm force winds to many areas.
