River levels in the Peterborough area remain high on the River Nene due to recent heavy rainfall. The Whittlesey Wash flood storage reservoir is being operated to protect nearby communities from flooding. The rising levels in the Wash will result in flooding of the B1040 road. Whilst the Flood Warning is in force, the Local Authority may close the B1040 for safety reasons. Diversionary routes will be put in place and further updates will be available through local media. We are closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated on Friday 6th December, or before if the situation changes.

Flooding is expected - immediate action required
The flooding of low-lying land and roads near the River Tone and on Currymoor continues during Thursday, 05/12/2024. New Road and Cutts Road remain closed. The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.18m and is rising. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway if this level exceeds 7.45m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 6.32m and continues to fall.
We are pumping at Currymoor and will continue to do so whilst river levels allow. We are also pumping at Northmoor, Saltmoor and Stanmoor when required. Further showers are forecast for Thursday afternoon, and a separate band of rain, heavy at times, is expected late Friday afternoon and overnight into Saturday. We continue to monitor the weather forecast and clearing weed screens and checking rivers for blockages. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible Thursday evening, 05/12/24 and into Friday morning, 06/12/24. River levels are rising at the Hay-On-Wye river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall.  Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible overnight tonight, Thursday 05/12/24.  We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Wye from Hay on Wye to Ross on Wye. Other locations that may be affected include the A438, Byford, Bredwardine and Hereford. Predicted peaks:- Hay on Wye 1.9m to 2.1m Overnight on the 05/12, Bredwardine 3.6m to 3.8m at 06:00 on 06/12, Belmont 3.6m to 3.8m at 07:00 on 06/12, Old Wye Bridge 3.2m to 3.4m at 07:00 on 06/12, Mordiford 3.6 to 3.8 at 07:00 on 6/12.

River levels are rising in the Upper River Aire catchment as a result of heavy rainfall through the afternoon and into the night of Thursday 5th December 2024. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible over the next few days. Areas most at risk include the River Aire from Gargrave to Stockbridge, including Eshton Beck, Eller Beck and Silsden Beck.
Further rainfall as well as strong winds are forecast associated with Storm Darragh on Friday and Saturday. This could cause river levels to remain high for several days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.

River levels remain high. The forecast is for further rainfall over the next few days. Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk. This information is correct as of 2.30pm on Thursday 5 December 2024. The causeway at Sutton Gault has approximately 15 centimetres of water on the road. The causeway at Welney has approximately 35 centimetres of water on the road. There are currently no issues on the Earith causeway. The Environment Agency are liaising with Cambridgeshire Highways, who will decide whether to close the road at Earith, and Norfolk Highways, who will decide whether to close the road at Welney. We continue to pump water at Westover Pumping Station, whilst river levels allow, and the water level on the moor continues to fall. The flooding of low lying land and roads remains a risk during Thursday, 05/12/2024. Areas most at risk include the Ilchester to Yeovilton road near the runway, the Mudford to Limington road and the road at the south end of Westover Trading Estate.

The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.18m and is rising. Water will enter Currymoor reservoir via Hookbridge spillway if this level exceeds 7.45m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 6.32m and continues to fall.
We are pumping at Currymoor and will continue to do so whilst river levels allow. We are also pumping at Northmoor, Saltmoor and Stanmoor when required. Roads close to Meifod Bridge, the B4393 near Llansantffraid Bridge and the B4398 at New Bridge Llanymynech could also be affected by the rising levels. We will continue to monitor the situation. River levels at Llanymynech are expected to continue to rise through the morning to a peak of approximately 3.7m before falling slightly into the afternoon. However, river levels are then expected to rise again due to another pulse of rain entering the Vyrnwy Catchment with levels currently forecast to reach approximately 4.40m by 23:30PM today (05/12/2024).
