David Walliams
David Walliams met comedy partner Matt Lucas at the National Youth Theatre, where the two were brought together by their shared love of Reeves and Mortimer. He graduated from Bristol University and after a stint as a stand-up comedian, children's television presenter and scriptwriter, he teamed up with Lucas in 1995.
They took their Sir Bernard Chumley and Friends show to the Edinburgh Festival, returning in 1996 and 1997. Following this, they embarked on a sell-out UK tour throughout 1997 and appeared at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal, Canada in 1999.
His appearances on television include the drama Attachments, Spaced, The League of Gentlemen and, recently, Cruise of the Gods with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. But it's for Rock Profiles and Little Britain that he, along with Lucas, is best known.
The radio series Little Britain (written and performed by Lucas and Walliams) transferred as an eight-episode TV series to 成人论坛 Three in September 2003. Following a repeat run on 成人论坛2, the series has won numerous gongs and Walliams himself scooped Best Comedy Newcomer at the 2003 British Comedy Awards.
In an interview with Metro in January 2004, he commented on the achievement.
"Yes, I'm not quite a newcomer. It's me coming into the public's attention, so I'm not going to give it back [laughs]. It's not that exciting but I'm not one of those people who says: 'Oh, I'm just going to use it as a doorstop.' It's got pride of place on the mantlepiece."
His upcoming projects include writing and starring with Rob Brydon in Home, a comedy set in an old people's home featuring Ronnie Corbett, and making a second series of Little Britain with Matt Lucas. The duo also feature in the upcoming All-Star Comedy Show.
