What's the name of your band and where do you come from?

We are Scarlet's Wake, a female-fronted rock-metal four-piece band from Derby and Nottingham!

What do you sound like?

*DIRTY*FILTHY*ROCK*METAL*

Who are your influences?

We have such a wide range of influences - it really shows in our music!听

Scarlet's Wake

There is a very definite backbone of rock and metal but we like to mix it up a bit by throwing in a bit of a latin on occasion, a splash of dance here and there...maybe a sprinkle of drum & bass or even a drop of jazz!听

Who knows what will sneak its way into future Scarlet's Wake songs!听 All we know is we play what we like to play and what we would like to listen too.

The four of us have such varied influences that it makes the sound we create as a whole that little bit harder to define...

Tell us about some of your best songs...

Smile, I've Got Knives - A favourite with the fans, it has dirty guitar riffs, a pace that gets your head nodding, powerful vocals and a great energy - especially when we play it live.听

Lyrically it is about a shop specialising in assisted suicide - a little tongue-in-cheek but with a dark undertone!

Watching My World Fall Apart - One of our newer songs we are currently recording for our forthcoming album '*DIRTY*FILTHY*ROCK*METAL*', we have played it live several times and it always goes down a storm!听

We love the feel of this song, it is difficult to describe. It starts with a funky bass riff and builds up a captivating crescendo to a wild & frenzied final chorus that usually leaves us exhausted!

Little Box Of...听 - Another fan favourite, this is our heaviest song so far, veering more towards the metal side of the soul!听

Inspired by the 80's cult horror movie 'Hellraiser', it has thumping drums throughout and has inspired many a hardcore mosher to throw themselves around uncontrollably!听听

Where can people watch you play live?

We always have gigs coming up...gig listings are updated via MySpace and our website as soon as they are confirmed.听

We play frequently in Nottingham, Derby & Mansfield areas but also have gigs coming up further afield in Birmingham, Wakefield, Coalville & London.听
