Integrate into the Spanish community
We moved to Spain 18 months ago - that is myself, my husband, two children (8 and 10), and our cat. My husband left his lucrative plumbing business and I gave up being a housewife and now do stints of teaching. We live in the mountains of the Costa Blanca. It is very important to integrate into the Spanish community. It is only because of this that my language has improved. The children are totally fluent because we strayed from sending them to the 'international' school and sent them to the local village school (30 children in all). My advice is to integrate. Spanish lessons become a struggle if you have no chance to practice. So get out there and practise!

The best way to learn to a language is to practise together with someone else.
