William Booth, from Sneinton, was the founder and first General of The Salvation Army.

Is he fact or is he fiction; a hero or a villain? Whatever the answer Robin Hood has certainly made his mark on Nottingham and the whole of the world.
5 - Sir Jesse Boot - Boots the Chemist
Jesse Boot transformed a small herbal store into a powerful pharmaceutical giant - Boots The Chemist.
6 - Torvill & Dean - Ice skaters
Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are Britain's best known ice skaters, they won the hearts of the British public with their Olympic gold medal in Sarajevo.
7 -Watson Fothergill - Architect
Fothergill was the son of a wealthy lace manufacturer and merchant. He developed a distinctive picturesque style, influenced by the European Gothic architecture he saw on his many visits to the continent.
8 - Harold Larwood - Cricketer
Harold Larwood was born in Nuncargate. A bowler of great speed combined with considerable control, it made him a force to be reckoned with in the years between 1926 and 1933.
9 - Su Pollard - Entertainer
Nottingham born actress who became a fixture on 成人论坛 television in the 1980's in a series of comedy shows.
10 - Alan Sillitoe - Novelist
Sillitoe was born in Nottingham, the son of an illiterate tannery labourer. His most famous work is undoubtedly 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning'.
