Ed Sheeran's eight best live performances
What are you doing on the 21 February? That's right, listening to Live Lounge on Radio 1.
With his two singles, Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill, Ed has dominated the charts and radio playlists in 2017. Just imagine what's going to happen when that new album drops.
Ed performed Castle On The Hill on Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw when he premiered the track in January, but we wanted to get him back for something much bigger.
After all, he has a bit of a history of spectacular live performances. Here are some of his finest ever.
1. When he smashed it in the studio with nothing but an acoustic guitar
We've had orchestras, guests and countless backing singers in the Live Lounge to help make a Live Lounge performance sound great.
But Ed didn't need any of that in January when he sort-of Live Lounge-d it in Nick Grimshaw's studio. Just an acoustic guitar will do the trick for Ed.
2. When he brought a mini-gospel choir to the Live Lounge
Every song sounds better with bit of a gospel choir added in. Ed's cover of Stay With Me by Sam Smith gave us serious chills.
3. When he made things really dirty at Radio 1
There must be a limit to Ed's musical talents, but as yet it has not been uncovered.
4. When he took us all to church
He almost managed to out- Hozier.
5. When he was still doing guest spots for other guests
(Warning: Contains language that some people may find offensive)
He joined to perform No Church In The Wild with rapper way back when in 2012.
We've upgraded the Live Lounge over the past few years. Those beige curtains had to go.
6. When he got everyone at Maida Vale studios singing along
Ed may not have turned up with any backing singers when Sing for Radio 1, but he definitely went home with some...
7. And then when he did exactly the same Radio 1's Big Weekend
Except there were a few thousand more people singing along.
8. When he moved fans to tears at Wembley Stadium
(Warning: Third party video may contain adverts)
We can't claim all his best performances have been for Radio 1, of course.
His sold out solo shows at one of the biggest venues in the UK were OK too ;)
Listen to Ed Sheeran perform in the Radio 1 Live Lounge on 21 February 2017 on Clara Amfo's show, 10am - 1pm.
