Background
Róisín Murphy first came to everyone's attention as one half of electronic duo . Since then she’s come to be critically-acclaimed as an uncompromising and often unpredictable solo artist who melds genres.
Hairless Toys is Murphy’s first album since 2007’s Overpowered, and she has described it as the culmination of “a desire to make an unquestionably refined record”. The album is very much a testament to the success of this desire; it is powerful and personal, borrowing - in true Róisín Murphy fashion - elements of house, electropop and soul, but resisting any single label. It is elegant and strangely absorbing, with a dark core, and confirms Murphy as an absolutely unique artist.
