The Stereo MCs
founder members Rob Birch and Nick "the head" Hallam are
both from Ruddington and have been friends since the age of six.
They are renowned for their own distinctive brand of rap-based

jingles. After nine years out of the limelight they have returned
in 2001 with a new album.

HOOD,
Robin
Hero/villain
Is he fact or
is he fiction; a hero or a villain? Whatever the answer Robin Hood
has certainly made his mark on Nottingham and the whole of the world.
Wherever you travel, mention you come from Nottinghamshire and nine
times out of ten the reply is "Ahh, Robin Hood." Together
with his Merry Men, Robin is said to have stolen from the rich and
the evil, like King John and the Sheriff of Nottingham, and given
to the poor. Immortalised in films staring Errol Flynn and Kevin Costner,
the popularity of the man in Lincoln Green shows no signs of waning.

he was only 14. By 20, he had risen to captain and he was credited
with firing the first shots of the Seven Years War. His mastery of
combat on the high seas meant he rarely lost a battle. He is best
remembered for his victory over the French fleet in the battle called
the First of June in 1794. The courageous captain earned the dubious
nickname "Black Dick" because he was said never to smile
unless a battle was about to begin. Lord Nelson called Lord
Howe a "great master in tactics and bravery".
