Your reviews and comments for Episode 1 Spooks 3:
"Once again, a fantastic episode. Fast-paced and action-packed. The addition of Adam is a very welcome one!
My only complaint is that it finished too quickly. I assumed that the facade would continue into other episodes, but it finished in one. Never mind - all good!"
Ralph Allison, Kent
"I can't better the praise that's already been so well-written - a brilliant and absorbing show. As a big fan of the Tom Quinn character I would just like to say: Bravo Adam Carter!"
Rob, Bournemouth
"Fantastic to see Spooks back and Tom innocent; he can't leave the series without it having a fundamental effect - despite trying to introduce sympathetic new characters a.k.a. Adam - it's just not goin to be the same. Bad mistake - don't let Tom go!"
Chris, Norwich
"It was a real anti-climax to find out that Joyce’s set-up amounted to nothing more than two people hell-bent on revenge and I now feel thoroughly let down. After last year’s dramatic cliff-hanger I was convinced that his actions must have been part of some much bigger conspiracy and I naively thought that the apparent irrational behaviour of the characters would be explained in some way.
It stretches credibility that someone of Tom’s intelligence would walk into such an obvious set-up, seemingly aware of his fate, and decide to take two of his colleagues with him, unless he had some secret hidden agenda, and why was Harry so convinced of his treachery? It seems so unlikely that if Tom had gone bad that he’d have agreed to meet his boss with such a transparent cover story - I therefore reasoned Harry must also have known more that he was saying.
I assumed that Tom acted the way he did because he knew he was onto something big – perhaps revealing a mole - and that Harry turned against him in order to cover something up. After months of eager anticipation I’m now totally disillusioned with this barely plausible solution."
Tim Robinson, Hounslow
"Carlsberg don't do television programmes, but if they did, they would make Spooks."

"Yet again, spooks really does flush potential down the toilet. For me it completely fumbled the opening minutes. It seemed to forget that we'd all been waiting for ten months or whatever it is to find out what happened, and didn't seem bothered to actually tell us, just sort of letting it slip like it was some unimportant detail. On the whole it seemed a little bit lazy to me, why not show us some of Tom's resourcefulness such as finding a car etc. Also, where did the split screen go? - either use it or don't, don't just drop it after 5 minutes. I still think Spooks is a great show, and certainly some of the best tv the beeb is producing currently, but it could be so much better."
Daniel Hardy, London
"Personally I think Tom would have been a little more resourceful when in the church tonight - a dictaphone and batteries can't be the hardest thing for a resourceful man to obtain in London... he could have taped his victim's words and been free, leaving him to rot in prison. But entertaining none-the-less... and great to have it back on our screens, thanks beeb!"

"Superbly paced, great-looking episode (aside from that dizzying meeting at the station) with all the hallmarks, style and skills of the Spooks cast and crew. The new character of Adam is introduced with care, coming across as sympathetic and skillful with a twinkle in his eye.
Tom's execution of Joyce shows just how far down the lost path he still is (though the "it's stopped raining in my head" line is hopeful), and Adam allowing Carmen to die too shows that we're still in that murky, grey-morality world of Spooks. Peter Firth played every scene like the pro he is, portraying Harry's mental and physical suffering with care - it's a great performance, and he has a perfect foil in Tim McInnery - the first time we've not missed Hugh Laurie.
Inevitably with so much happening in the episode, it seems some characters had to miss out, and it felt as though Danny and Zoe were pushed to the back a little, but then there's always next week. Welcome back Spooks!"
David Anderson, London, UK
"Ridiculous, preposterous, ludicrous, fabulous. I am so glad Spooks is back."

"I had to wait a year for Spooks 3 but it was worth it. It's really unbelievable how the scriptwriters could get Tom and MI5 out of this situation they wrote them into last year. Spooks is back, better than ever."
Simon de Boer, Makkum, The Netherlands
"I think that it was very clever to make Tom Quinn warm to Adam Carter; having Adam Carter being the only character who did not prejudge Tom and ultimately Adam proving Tom's innocence. Tom Quinn fans automatically resent any new character, which essentially takes over the role of Tom. However, you are unable to resent Adam because he saved the day for Tom and the team without (in the main) rubbing Tom's face in it.
Another observation - the essential different between Adam Carter and Tom Quinn is that Adam is lucky in love and Tom is a fool for love. If Tom had a stable home/love life (he never showed the best judgement) I firmly believe that he would not have gone off the rails as he did.
I think it is amazing that Tom Quinn is not being prosecuted for shooting Harry. I realise that Harry forgave Tom, but it would not have been Harry that would have prosecuting Tom it would have been the Crown Prosecution Service, surely? How did they manage to keep the Criminal Justice System out of the equation?
An excellent episode - I am so happy that Tom is not dead and hope that, as long as Tom is not killed off, then Matthew will do the odd episode in future series. Please Matthew, pleeeeeeaaasssseeee! Will Spooks someday switch to MI6 stories (with the arrival of Mr and Mrs Carter)? - it will create great scope for stories. eg. Imagine a MI6 spy being arrested by police in foreign lands!"

"I didn't think it possible; I now know it to be true. Spooks has, in the space of an hour, managed to exceed its own standards in delivering explosive and incredibly thoughtful drama that just makes you want to throw open the doors to Thames House and shout "Sign me up right now!".
As their alter egos demand, the entire cast works together as a great team, whichever side of the line they happen to be on. The writers continue to stay on top of world affairs and viewer demands, delivering fast-paced action, unbearable tension, a smattering of wit and the crucial added ingredient: an edge of uncertainty.
Spooks is Spooks because nothing is certain and a character can, true to life, go in any direction at any time, whether face-down into a chip pan or into the shoes of an assassin. The format is fresh but familiar and a flawless resolution to such a baffling cliffhanger.
I'm keen to know what Darth Sidious is doing as an MI5 sleeper agent next week; until then it's back to bugging my co-workers and installing a pod-like swishy thing as my new front door."
Matthew Archer, London
"Brilliant. It was worth the wait (but not so long next time please). I would have liked to have seen the saga drawn out over multiple episodes - it was tied up too quickly! Can't complain too much though. Excellent acting and great intro to the new character. Can't wait for next week (or Sat if you have ³ÉÈËÂÛ̳3!)"

"Excellent start. Superb balance of action, dialogue and also some great pieces of humour thrown in for good measure. Harry and Ruth were on top form tonight. Like the mutual respect thing going on with Tom and Adam too. My fave Spooks episode so far I think."
David Jones, Llandrindod Wells
"The first episode of S3 of Spooks proves that British Drama isn't dead. This show would've kept me pinned on the edge of my seat if I hadn't been sitting on the floor. Fast paced, unrelenting, twisting and so SO much more satisfying than its Season 2 counterpart in resolving the cliffhanger.
The only complaint I can possibly make is that, once again, everything is solved and rosy by the end of the episode. Tom, great to have you back, you too Harry. Danny, Zoe, Ruth...glad to see you're all on board. Our problem this week....how are we going to top that?"
Rob, London
"I thought that last night's show was an excellent start to the new series - the production values seem to be much better and to have improved on the quality of the previous two series. Can't wait to see the next episode!"
