People would
know me as Heidi Bradshaw, although thats not my name now!
I attended Middleton
Primary School from 1976 thru 1981, then went to Arnold Hill Comprehensive
from 1981 thru 1986.
I moved to the
US in March 1991, when I married my first husband, and have moved
around the US a bit (Philadelphia, Denver, Salt Lake City and the
Oklahoma City areas).
But come September
1st, I am coming HOME! I'll be bringing my daughter (who is due
to arrive in 4 weeks) and can't wait to get reacquainted with Nottingham...
Email me if
you know me etc.

What a great
idea this board, on behalf of my husband (he can`t spell) we would
like to get in touch with anyone who was born in Blidworth. His
name is Gordon Gegory,siblings--Grace & Alan. He moved to Palmerstone
St in Nottingham worked on Trent Buses from 1951 to 1955 where I
met him I was his "budgie". Moved to Whittier Rd of Colwick
Rd, from where we emigrated in 1967 to here in Geelong Victoria
Australia. Went back in 1979 to 1980, but we prefer this life style.
Had a working holiday there and really enjoyed ourselves. Kids wanted
to come back as well. Would go on holiday if the pennies were there.
We do love it here but as many of your expats say it seems as if
its all food we miss. Do they know you can make your own mushy peas, have
converted a few Aussie frienda to this gastromic delight. Any how
any one wanting to write emai is mucka@sunet.com.au. Hope to hear
from someone. Our age is 67.

Fantastic,
if only I had found something like this years ago. I am returning
to NOttm/Newark tmw 1/6 after an absence of 35 yrs. I left in Sept.
66 at age 10 on the "Fair SEA" lived Brisbane Aust since.
Reading these messages brought tears to my eyes! Those of us who
left as children, not of own choice, tend to have strong feelings
(irrational?) about "home". DO others have similar experience?
In Nottm I lived
in a shop in Windmill Close, recall Kingsnorth (?) KING, ice skating
rink, Victoria Baths, local school, cubs, a field that had a brickworks
"slag pile". I hope to find these next week and compare
reality to a child's memory.
GRANDPARENTS
(Towle) lived at Woodside Rd Beeston. Lived NEWARK, 56-64 at Ash
Rd and Windsor Rd (next to Headmaster, mr Otter, Hollarton (?).
Paul Childs are you out there?

Seem to have
lost touch over the years with just about everyone as I have been
working all over the country and have been overseas for a while.
If you were 'Class of '82' ie. were at Fernwood Comprehensive between
1977 and 1982 drop us a line at our email address. I have not heard
as yet of anyone organizing a 20 year reunion for 2002, although
I found out from school a couple of years ago that class of 79 had
theirs! Look forward to hearing from any of you soon.

Fantastic read,
I was looking for family history when I stumbled across this site.
It brought back many memories of my past life in Nottingham, some
of the pubs and clubs I had forgotten about untill reading about
them joged them back into life.
I too was a pupil at William Crane school, aspley. leaving in 1964.
We lived at Radford until I was 11, my father being George Eliott.
We moved to Broxtowe where I lived untill I was 21.Graduated from
peoples college and got my wheels, they have hardly stoped turning
since. Moving to Bulwell ,Hucknall (where I still have family ),
Arnold, then Bedfordshire and finally Perth, West Australia. My fathers
side originated from Basford, I think. And my mothers side was Cundliffe
and Osborne from stapleford.
Anyway back to the memories. The trip on the old trolley buses to
the bowling alley (where I met my first love, Heather Newton of
Netherfield. Who I will never forget ) My first drink in a pub ,the
Angel just up the road from the bowling alley . We were under age
and felt very nervous but left feeling like grown men. The pubs
and clubs became a regular weekend outing . We did the usuall thing
at the clubs, the girls would dance in the middle and all the men
would walk around the outside surveying the options before plucking
up enough courage to ask a girl to dance. (usually at the end of
the night).
Walking home with the boys from the city to Broxtowe one new years
morning in the freezing snow and ice. My first car a Morris minor
1000 . Playing soccer for Lamley Villa and winning our division.
Watching cloughies Nottm Forest . Working at Wright & Dobson
bros Carlton Rd as a maintenance electricion , where I met my second
love ( Elaine Mason ) only to see here taken away on a ! bo!
To Sydney australia when her parents emigrated , we lost touch and
have never spoken since her arrival. Ive been back to Nottingham
a few times but its not the same as in those old days and without
those old friends to enjoy it. I hope that a few memories will have
also been jogged by this message ,like mine was. If so send me an
email,I would love to talk to a few old friends or relatives.

I can only
dream about seeing Nottingham! My Grandmother was born and raised
in Bullwell , her maiden name was Shawcroft. My father, her son,
fought in WWII, and he was stationed for a short time in England,
but never got to see his mothers hometown. We live in New York state,
but someday maybe we can see your beautiful country! We get to watch
成人论坛 America over here and love it!! Although I'm not too keen on
"Absolutely Fabulous". I love "Monarch of the Glen" though!

Hi. My name
is Nikolai Akinin. I was born back in 1958 at the Women's Hospital
in Nottingham. My family lived on Lenton Boulevard, across the road
(Trinity Road I think the name was) from the Post Office. I attended
Lenton Infant School from 1963 to 1965 and then the Lenton Junior
School from 1965 to 1969. We later (1968) moved from Lenton Blvd.
to Hill Side, just off Derby Road by the old Wollerton Gates. In
1969 I started to attend Cottesmore School on Derby opposite the
Savoy cinema, and left in 1974. That year I started work a Conflow
Ltd. on Triumph Road. In 1978 I left Nottingham to work for the
Ford Motor Co. in Basildon, Essex. I now live in Detroit, Michigan,
I've been here since 1983, I'm marred to an American and we have
a son aged 7. With all this moving, I've lost my school class photos,
If anyone remembers going to school with me and have their school
photos please contact me. And if anyone remembers me or my family
and wants to chat and catch-up with stuff contact me too.

I'm a Londoner
who moved to Cotgrave in '85. I lived there until this year when
I moved back to London. I feel more of a Nottinghamian than a Londoner
and in 3 months, I'm very much missing the place. Maybe I'll return.

I have lived
in the United States for just over 6 years. I grew up in Nottingham
and went to school in Clifton. Although I love the US, I certainly
miss England, especially my home town. What do I miss? The familiarity
that comes with living in one place for so many years, pub life,
the countryside, mushy peas at Victoria market and my family. I
really do not keep in contact with anyone from school. So, if you
attended Charnwood or Fairham between 1979 - 1984, please
e-mail me.

We've been left
Nottingham for just 3 years. We were born and raised in Eastwood,
and after one too many visits to Sydney to see Steph's sister, we
decided to emigrate here. The life styles really good, and reading
some of the comments made, agree that it would be nice to take our
lifestyle and the weather back home. It's good to see that there
are several really good web-sites and web-cams in and on Nottingham
(and even Eastwood), we can show people here where we came from,
and even how to speak properly. Can't speak for all the other ex-pats
but we find that the locals here, struggle to understand our accent,
especially words with a U in them like Pub, Mum and Bucket!!!!
Best wishes to you all

Only moved as
far as London but it often feels like a different country to Nottingham.
Born there in 1963 and went to Margaret Glen Bott (Botto) from 1974-79,
then Bilborough FE College. Left in 1983 for polytechnic. Not sure
if I'd go back but I do have a soft spot for the place and one or
two fond memories, namely: Tom Coyne on Midlands Today The Great
Nottingham Chat-Up Line: "Giz a chip." Lots of blokes with suits
and big moustaches on Saturday night in the pub. Nottingham words
- 'mardy', 'croggy', 'nesh' The ability to put an 'o' on the end
of everyone's name e.g.Tommo, Jeppo, Beebo "Dip dip taytion, corporation,
how many buses are int he station?" Ah, happy memories.
