Hello, my name is Margaret Leighton and I love this site. I'm still
looking for old friends from Bilborough Grammar School, 1962-1968.
I left Nottingham in 1970 and worked in Germany (Stuttgart) for 8
years. Then I moved to America and have been here in California ever
since. I love it here but I find I miss Nottingham more and more each
passing year. I visit every other year. Anyone out there remember
me, or know any of these ex Bilborough Grammar School pupils: Barbara
Watson, Lorraine Sharp, Susan Gamble, Cath Marsh, Glenys Tatton, Steven
Swift, Mick Stokes. I just got back form celebrating my 50th birthday
and I met some old school chums through the site www:friends reunited.co.uk
Cheers!

Folks I am an ex-Nottinghamer now living in Dublin for the past
5 years. We are moving to Thunder Bay, Ont in the new year. I notice
that there are quite a few ex-Nottingham people in Ontario. Can
anyone tell me if there is a Ex-Pats association? I lived in Keyworth

hearing from people in Canada.

Thunder Bay
Thunder Bay in January....hmmmm. Hope you like cold weather!! You'll
be very welcome in Canada there's lots of Nottm folk over here I'm
not quite sure how many in Thunder Bay but in Ontario there must be
several thousand. After the initial culture shock you'll soon become
used to the lifestyle over here, it's just the winters that take some
getting used to. Good Luck

Ex-pats
- BYGONES
I thought I would let some of you ex-pats know that there is a wonderful
publication put out monthly by the Nottm. Evening Post called BYGONES.
I subscribe to it on a yearly basis and it costs 20 pounds to have
it sent airmail. It is about days gone by obviously, the forties,
fifties, sixties etc., and even further back than that sometimes.
There are letters and photographs from people which are very interesting.
This last publication which I received a few days ago, was all about
Lenton and Dunkirk and other months it has been of other areas and
topics. It's in newspaper format and interesting to read. I just wanted
to pass this on to you all, you just contact the Nottm Evening Post
and they are very reliable, I have found, at sending it. I left Nottingham
in the fifties to come to Canada and I have renewed ! ol! d friendships
through writing to this publication in the past.

Does anyone remember me ? I am Ian Haughton, born in West Bridgford
in 1931 - schools were George Road Infants, South Council Junior and
W.B. Grammar -- left in 1946 to training ship and went to sea in '47
but lived in Bridgford off and on for another ten years. I emigrated
to Canada in 1963 and have lived here in New Westminster, BC since
then. During my time atsea I sailed with several Nottingham lads -
"Tug" Wilson,Jack Dawes, and a few others whose names escape me. I
manage the odd trip back to Nottingham every few years and walk for
miles revisiting my old haunts and looking for old friends. Some have
dropped totally out of sight and at this stage passed on - but it
is such a pleasure when I do find an old buddy. And here in Canada
have located the whereabouts of three of the people who were children
with me - John ! Ty! soe in Ontario, Mary Valentine (nee Birtles),
and Anne Blenkinsop whose married name I forget -- strangely all lived
within spitting distance of me !!So if anyone of the old gang sees
this and wants to say "Hi" my email is haughton@home.com -- give me

Beeston
We lived on Bramcote Ave. Chillwell from about 1941 to 1951. Our
family name is Margrie. In 1951 we moved to Fletcher Rd. Beeston.
My sisters
are Jean and Joan and I am Janet.
I attended the
little wooden primary school on Bramcote Ave., Roundhill school
for a while and Nether St. Sr. girls school. Left school in 1955.
I have lived
in California since 1964 and return to Beeston periodically. Would
love to contact anybody who may have known me. I still have some
old class photo's from about 1948?
My sister Joan
still lives in Beeston.
Beeston and
Nottingham will always be "home". Remembering the walks to Bluebell
Hill, the Hemlock Stone and Wollaton Park.

love to contact old friends. I still miss Nottingham - it's full of
great people. I try and get back 'home' as often as i can, but tour
the city 'virtually' at regular intervals.
