Let's go Reds and get promoted this year. If there is anything I really
miss it's the football matches and the discussions on Saturday night
after the game. I get to visit family and friends about every 2 years
and taste the local goodies - fish and chips and the local pub. I
lived in Napoleon square for most of my life - Aspley estate, then
moved to Whitemoor on Basford road. Played football for Peoples College
and made a lot of good friends. Don't regret moving to the states.
At least the weathers a little warmer. ta ta for now!!!!!

finishing up at Mapperley for 15 years. Attended Beach Avenue School

'62-'65. Barry Browitt, Peter Knowles, John Vickers, Ian Fowldes,
Graham Hide, Micheal Hambey, Alan Askey, Roger Lilley, are a few of
my school pals I can remember. In the past I have worked for the following
Nottingham companies, Farrands, John Players, Wigfalls, Ridgards.
Been living in Australia now for almost 2 years. I do miss the pubs
although the beer out here is pretty good too. Be nice to hear from
anyone who remembers me or our family - sisters Kim & Lynsie and brother
Carl. Carl is the only one left in Nottingham - Kim in Cyprus and
Lynsie in Adelaide. Cheers me ducks.

Ee up me ducks! I was born at the City Hospital in 1976 and grew up
in Beeston. I went to Beeston Fields and Alderman White for my schooling
and, unfortunately, moved away with my family to Cornwall in 1991.
I miss walking round Wollaton Park, that aventure playground down
the High Road in Beeston - the one with wood chippings on the ground
- and chocolate milkshakes in 'Sam's Place' (also in town, I hope
it's still there). I'd love to move back home one day, if I get a
job there and save up some money. Be good.

My
name is Joyce Betts (nee Kerry) I was born in Nottingham in 1948.
My family lived at 451 Meadow Lane. My brother, sister and I went
to the Greenwood Infant, and Greenwood Junior schools on Sneinton
Boulvard. After sitting for my 11+ I attended Blenheim Secondary Girls
school at Bulwell. I have many fond memories of walking to Trent Bridge
to feed the swans, wandering around the Botanical Gardens, picnics
at Burton Joyce, Wollaton Park and the Arboretum. We regularly visited
the cattle market on Meadow Lane. My parents, sister, two brothers
and I left England on the S.S. Stratheden in June 1962. We haven't
been back since. My husband and I live in Colac Victoria.

up me ducks!! Great message board - I'm Jane Love, originally from
Farnsfield and The White Post Inn. Now working and living in Bahrain
(bit warmer down this end). Went to Southwell Minster School, Ockbrook
Girls School and later, Arnold and Carlton College. Am owed a month's
vacation in October and hoping to get back for Goose Fair. Always
make a habit of going home in winter as there's nothing quite like
dressing up warm, taking the 50 bus into town, meeting old mates and
doing a top pub crawl around the city. Yes, I miss it. Too expensive
nowadays, but well worth it!! If you know me, or used to frequent
the White Post Inn, please e-mail on janelove1@hotmail.com

Greetings,
I was born and raised in Nottingham, living and attending Whitemoor
school and Ellis secondary leaving there in 1962. Apparently there
is no "old boys' group according to a reply received from the Ellis-Guilford
recently. Anyway, despite leaving here in the U.S. since 1974, I
do miss some things about old Nottingham - you know, Wollaton Park,
certain pubs, and, even some of those distinctive pungent industrial
odours! that let you know which part of town you were in. I'm continuing
to defend British food in the colonies and after several trip homes
from making "Tesco runs" I'll admit there does seem a greater choice
of fare. I'd love to hear from anyone attending the Ellis school
(1958-1962) or even Whitemoor elementary during the 50's. P.S. -
you'd be suprised how many ex-pats over here make mushy peas, love
'um.

Hi John,
I'm also an ex Ellis boy (1952-1956)I also went to Whitemore junior
(1947-1952).Seems like an eternity away, I visited the old school
Its now of course amalgamated with Guildford (wish they did that
when I was there)3 years ago. Some of the old buildings are still
there mainly the main building including Mr Hadrill's office where
I was once given the strap for smoking.Seeing there isn't an old
boys club may be we should start one up you can be the 1st president
I'm fair dinkum let us know if you agree.

Hello
Nottingham. I lived at Hucknall from 1958-60, and attended Carlton
le Willows school. I was friendly with Pat Brasier of Carlton and
Dorothy Farnsworth of Beeston. If they or anyone that knows them can
tell me where they are now, I'd love to get in touch. My name in those
days was Sandra Machin.

Ay
up from Carmel/Pebble Beach in California. I left Nottingham in 1970.
I went to Bilborough Grammar School from 1963 to 1968 and all of my
old school mates will be 50 this year and next! I've lost touch with
all of my friends at school and missed a school reunion which I found
out about two years later! I worked briefly for East Midlands Electricty
Board, Furse Electric and Blue Circle Portalnd Cement (All as a draftsperson/cartographer)before
I left for Germany in 1970 I still get to go home to good old Nottm
to see my brother John Leighton who still lives in Arnold. I lived
in Stuttgart, Germany from 1970 to 1978 when I came here to the US.
I would love an email from anyone who remembers me at school. This
is a great site!

What a wonderful notice board. My name is Barbara Burton nee Millard.
I was born in Hucknall in 1947, brought up in Kirkby attending Mowlands
Schools, lived abroad with the RAF for many years and then went
back to Sutton for 15 years until 1996. Now myself and my husband
Graham, son Mark and his Turkish wife and their baby live here in
the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is very beautiful, but
very hot at times too, especially running our cafe cooking steak
and kidney pies and bacon butties etc. There are one or two ex-Notts
county-ites here in North Cyprus so if anyone is planning a holiday
out this way look us up. Save us a pork pie for when we "cum 'om"
though.

Hiya,
My name is Garon Willis and I was born in 1955. I went to Corpus Christi
secondary school, (which has now merged with, and is known as the
Becket). I left that school in 1972 and joined the Navy. We had a
school reunion in about 1987 organised by a couple of the girls from
my class, including one 'Philemena Dennis (nee McCarthy). I left Nottingham
in 1989 and now live in Devon. Old friends include Nick Dawson, and
my oldest friend Stephen Hopkins now lives very close down here in
Devon. I have tried without success to try and contact anybody from
my old school, to see if another reunion could be arranged. Does anybody
remember Antonio Marmo, Andy Warrock, Paul Morton, Sean Wright, and
a few of the girls- Carol Saul, Annette Finn (who wasn't at the reunion)?.
I was brought up in Clifton and Sherwood, and eventually lived in
Kimberley when I bought a house of my own. If anyone remembers me
and would like to make contact, please Email me at Garon.Willis@btinternet.com

I
have been reading the 成人论坛 World online for quite a while now and discovered
the Nottingham site more or less by accident. After growing up in
the Nottm. area, Burton Joyce and Gedling and as I now live in Western
Canada I am thoroughly enjoying going through the site. I read the
Evening Post regularly too in an effort to keep informed on good old
Notts. I emigrated in 1964 but still have an attraction to the 'Old
Country' A good site keep up the good work.

Hi
all ( G'day me duck !!!! )As you can see i am in OZ Brisbane (Gold
Coast, Ormeau ) and have been here for about 8yrs now, brought the
family out, and had two more while we have been here ( POZZIES!!!!)
I was born in Basford hospital 4th Dec 1951,and then moved to Bestwood
vilage, as my dad was a winder there at the pit, but checked all the
other mines around the area, we then moved to Bulwell, where i lived
most of my life, went to Bulwell St Mary's, and i was captain of our
football team when we won the Redfurn cup on St Alban's Rd.
We lived in Bestwood Terr, and at the bottom was that great pub~ THE
NEWSTEAD ABBEY !!!! so that was our local watering hole!!! I worked
at Raleigh for a few years. and met a great deal of friends there,
and still keep in touch via the internet, and then decided to go into
the Army, and should have done it years ago!!!
Got itchy feet when i left the Army, and couldn't settle, so decided
to come to OZZZ !!! But must say i do miss the pubs & the sence
of humour from back home !!! but never mind, we are getting these
Ozzies educated HHaaa!!! Haaaaa!!!!
My wife & i have been over to the UK, and feel we have made the
right decision, but it is brilliant to go back, and can't wait to
get back again, and see a decent game of football too !!!!
All the best to you all back home, and now i have found this site
i will be emailing a few people, and see how they are enjoying there
lives in other countries,
Take care,
Paul

Born
in 1945 in Nottingham city Hospital (I don't remember it!),went to
Percy Street School in old Basford and then Heathfield School when
we moved to New Basford.
From there went to The Ellis boys school in Bar Lane old Basford.
My family then moved to Swansea, South Wales.I have never been back.
I don't know if I have any family in Notts. Things that I remember
were Basford Wakes,Fishing in Vernon park, Watching RAF planes landing
in the Hucknall you could see them from my bedroom window. (we lived
in Stockhill circus) and the Saturday morning job scrubbing out meat
trays in the butchers shop on what I think was Cowley Street. The
butchers name was Albert ???.
and finally in a little chapple I can't remember which, a girl called
Barbara Pullford used to sing Solo she had the voice of an Angel (sorry
Charlotte) she was better than you!
any way one day I might come back and have a look just for old times
sake. P.S. it took me several years of living here before any one
could understand the Nottinghamese Language I used to speak.

Ex-Ex-pat. You
see, I only spent one year in Nottingham as a student at the university.
It was a program through Luther College and I fell in love with
England and have never been quite the same since. Sure, I was happy
to come back to the US and sensible 4-way stop intersections, but
now I am more "homesick" than ever for real ales, prime
minister's question hour(at least you managed to keep the liberal
party running your country!), and yes, even dodgy roundabouts. I
would love to hear from anyone in the Midwest/USA who misses England
as much as I do (or from anyone in England who wants to take pity
on a Yank!) My email is mindthedoor@hotmail.com
Cheers!
