Rose travelled to Devon from the north of England to make a new start after losing her child. Enthusiastic and determined, she makes contact with who is seeking women who want to work the land in the absence of the conscripted men.
Rose's first experience on a Devon farm does not go well but her eagerness to work remains strong. She becomes good friends with and quickly develops into a model female farmer.
A good singer, Rose is never shy in sharing a song.
