"There is no substitute for one-to-one advice from a听top medical expert and that's what we offer our callers and emailers. But for each person who calls to ask for help, someone else phones in to pass on a tip or a suggestion -听it's a great programme to present."

The Jaw
In the first programme in a new series of Check Up, Barbara Myers returns to answer your questions about the jaw.
Nearly three quarters of us experience problems with our jaws, whether it's clicking, clenching or muscular pain.
Many of us grind our teeth during the day and in our sleep. This is called Bruxism and can听cause headaches, sore jaws and dental problems as well as being irritating to our partners.
Sometimes different parts of the face can grow in a disproportionate manner when it is developing during early teens. If this happens in the jaw the teeth may not meet properly, causing an abnormal bite and speech impediments, as well as affecting a person's appearance.
Studies show that people with jaw disproportion are often teased, bullied and prejudiced against due to the way they look. The condition is treatable through surgery that can correct a jutting out lower or upper jaw.
Oral and pharyngeal cancers, which include jaw cancer, are the sixth most common malignancies reported worldwide and have high mortality rates.
Barbara Myers is joined by Maxillofacial surgeon Mr Cyrus Kerawala to answer listener questions on the jaw.
Contact the Programme Check Up is your opportunity to ask an expert about the condition. If you have a question, contact us by calling 0870 010 0444 from 1.30pm - 3.30pm on the day of broadcast听or by emailing the programme - see 'Contact Check Up' link above.
